NEW! DAILY DRAFT NOTICE: DOD gears up for DRAFT last few weeks-49% to exit

THE DAILY DU DRAFT NOTICE

Appeal for draft board volunteers revives memories of Vietnam era

Suzanne Goldenberg in Washington
Wednesday November 5, 2003
The Guardian

<snip>
In a notice posted on the defence department's Defend America website, Americans over the age of 18 and with no criminal record are invited to "serve your community and the nation" by volunteering for the boards, which decide which recruits should be sent to war.

Thirty years have passed since the draft boards last exerted their hold on America, deciding which soldiers would be sent to Vietnam. After Congress ended the draft in 1973, they have become largely dormant.

However, recruitment for the boards suggests that in some parts of the Pentagon all options are being explored in response to concerns that the US military has been stretched too thin in its occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq.

1. Old news
sorry but this is from 11/5.The notice has since been removed, also the draft board members serve 20 year terms. many of them retired in 1999. They need new members for that reason.there aint gonna be a draft.

2. Selective Service Website: The first men drafted would be those turning 20
then 21 is the next priority, then 22 on up to 26.

Obviously Bush would wait until he is re-elected but they are so preparing to re-instate they are filling Board seats NOW when they have been empty for years! Anybody who thinks they made a "mistake" putting the ad up is naive, then they say "THEY DON'T KNOW WHY IT WAS TAKEN DOWN" Come on!

Bush absolutely needs a draft just to hold onto Iraq but the real reason is to get 3 million men under arms and take the oil of Central Asia according to the PNAC plan. If you do not know about this (obvious), please find out more about PNAC at

VOTE FOR BUSH IN 2004, GET DRAFTED IN 2005!

7. Damnit! They must have changed the order
I have 2 sons that are 20 and 23, and figured we were almost out of the woods, since in Vietnam, I think they started with 19, 18, 20, 21, etc...

Crap.

gear up. Filling the Board seats is first. 80% of the seats on the Draft Boards have been empty for some time, but they have to fill them now. They are obviously getting ready for early 2005. rather than later 2005.

BTW, Most of those 80% empty seats WERE FILLED IN A WEEK by people just dying to draft the young'uns here at DU. Anybody out there 18-24? By 2005, you're next! (If you are 18 now, you will be the FIRST drafted as you will be 20 in 2005--and NO MORE STUDENT DEFERMENTS OR CANADA, GUYS!

VOTE FOR BUSH IN 2004, GET DRAFTED IN 2005!!

8. Also vote Clark get drafted
I suggest anyone who may be subject to a draft (or who not like friends/family to be drafted) think long and hard about voting Clark.

He has plans for a draft, and has attempted to cover them under the guise of community service. (something Rove him self would likely try to do)

Go ahead and live in denial if you so choose, but don't say you weren't warned. There are both democratic and republican sheep. Don't be one of them.

12. Yes. They will ask "have you participated in homosexual acts?"
If you say yes, it's 4-F, or at least it used to be. That's how a few of my friends dodged it. I myself got a Conscientious Objector status, a CO. Which would still be possible, if you have a liberal draft board and can prove you belong to one of a few religions.

3. Heartland mother.
I still can't forget what that heartland mother said to the recruiting officer: "My friends all tell me that you're trained to lie so my son isn't going to sign up. He's going to stay here and be my baby."

9. Bush needs to draft 500,000 to 3 million starting in 2005 to keep Iraq and
control the world's oil supply.

They say it would have to be WWII scale to reinstate the Draft but THAT IS NOT TRUE! WWII was 6 to 7 million under arms.

Bush could control Iraq and steal all the oil with a mere extra half-million men if the Russians and CHinese don't fight and with all our high tech weaponry 3 million would be enough to steal the really profitable reserves--even with a big fight! This is growing more likely as Putin and the Chinese are pouring troops and mobile nuclear launchers into Central Asia to stop the US advance as we speak.

This is why they have made operational the Airborne Laser on 767s, to be able to neutralize those field launchers or the new Russian missiles in Syria when the PNAC clock hits midnight in 2006 or 2007 and the Great Oil Grab officially starts. The Airborne Laser will be operational within 8 months or so, and can blow a missile out of the air 180 miles away--due to the invention of the "Rubber Mirror" in 2001, which can focus the main laser on the target despite the turbulence of the atmosphere!

To the neo-cons, either the US controls the Central Asian/ME oil and so the world or the Russians and Chinese will.

NEVER FORGET THIS!

14. It actually goes by birthday.
All 365 days of the year are drawn in a lottery on TV. The first day drawn is number 1 and you die first.

I got my CO and then drew #301 for my year for my birthday. I remember finding that out and breathing a sigh of relief, because you still go in, but serve as a medic.

17. Bush is STUPID, but those around him handling these decisions aren't
They know ANY talk of a draft between now and Nov. 04 would be even more the death knell of his administration than his decision to rape Iraq for its oil and for Halliburton's coffers.

18. Bush and the republicans have destroyed our military.
Nobody in their right mind is going to want ot enlist in the military because of the war in Iraq and subsequent occupation. Sometimes it almost seems like Bush is trying to purposely destroy America. What would happen if we were attacked by another country right now? We'd be in deep trouble. The republicans have proven that they are not a party that is strong on defense. They are extremely foolish about defense policy. Iraq was a horrible mistake.

Our country is less safe and secure right now than it has ever been.
