Kerry wins straw poll in Western Iowa
"Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts was the winner of a straw poll conducted Saturday by western Iowans in defiance of their state and national parties.

The straw poll was conducted by the Harrison County Democratic Party at its annual fall fund-raiser despite state and national party rules that forbid matching candidates in head-to-head competition....

...Kerry received 37 percent of the vote, and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean was second with 29 percent. Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina had 19 percent, while Rep. Dick Gephardt of Missouri garnered 10 percent.

The other five candidates each received less than 5 percent of the vote. A total of 142 people voted in the poll."

This is for all those people out there who mistakenly believe the nomination is all sewn up.

14. it's pretty funny how you thought my comment was condescending…
until you discovered that I'd plagiarised it from a Kerry supporter.

I guess you've learned how to edit by watching the white house operate.

3. That result is as reliable as an online poll...
142 people?
3 people = 2.11%

That means Kerry had 11 more votes in one of Iowa's 99 counties!

19. Only because the corporate media acts on orders.
From their GOP masters.

The media won't cover Kerry's team of Gary Hart, Rand Beers, Joe Wilson, William Perry, Max Cleland, et al.....or "The Team Who Know Too Much."

They hurt Bush too much.

16. Seems there are some Iowans who recognize a REAL Democrat.
Too bad so many DUers don't know a damn thing about Sen. Kerry's service to Liberal and Progressive causes, from protecting the environment, to public education, to organized labor, to helping small business. Oh yeah, there's all the investigations of the Bush Organized Crime Family he's led, helping uncover the secret government these criminals have installed.

Then again, they go for the angry draft-dodging ex-governor ex-doctor ex-stockbroker. And all that guy's EVER done is talk. Talk talk talk talk. And like most of what the little man says and believes, talk is cheap.

17. He's got the internet message board lingo down.
And that satisfies that constituency. Just like Limbaugh does for the right wing. Dean sounds like he'd be a great centrist talk radio host. He doesn't sound like a thoughtful world leader.

20. Just because Bush/media TELLS us "Kerry is down" does not make it true...
...But..but...Bush/media told us "Kerry is down" and we believed it...even after they said there WMDs and about 100 other flat-out lies...

...when will we learn?
