And people like him who claim to be Democratic, but in turn say things which will only create sympathy and support for the repukes.

Actually, Kahn and his ilk aren't the problem. We have a greater cause for concern.

The voters who'll vote for the repukes because of a controversial comment made during a public memorial service of a conveniently placed Democratic candidate's death. If the tables were turned, the pukes would have been just as "partisan" (for lack of better term) and the Dems wouldn't have made a peep over their partisanship and the repukes would still have won in a nationwide landslide because of "sympathy votes" (which is appalling, pure and simple), you bet your sweet bippy that would have happened.

I have, sadly, found people who were going to vote Dem in 2002 who decided to vote repuke because of Rick Kahn's well-meaning but politically suicidal comments made at the public Wellstone 'memorial' service. Even I was outraged, though I'm not stupid enough to base my vote on an emotional reaction, even if I do get emotional at times.

The sad part is, one of my blood relatives even told me it was the memorial that made her change her mind. I felt totally betrayed by the comment, but managed to keep a straight face. The shock was incredible to experience, nor did I like the experience.

Maybe we citizens do get the government we deserve. If people are going to vote on emotion rather than issue, we may as well pack up our bags and go live under rocks in comparative separation and safety from the pure fools running/ruining the country and the world for their personal gain, unfettered by dignity, humanity, or virtue.

A sizeable chunk of the American public did turn on us, the poll numbers of election 2002 proved that. It's very sad to see Americans so fickle and outright STUPID, but what can you expect in a society that brainwashes you with its television programs that draw you in via emotions or drivel, rather than intellectual awareness/improvement, and cajoles you to spend, spend, spend for corporate america because it's the 'american' thing to do.

My point, and it's damning: Expect the repukes to try something big in 2004 to destroy our credbility utterly (though the Dems, as a party, have been helping them by supporting them...). Make no doubt about it. You can bet all your bippies that they'll play fair with honor and dignity (hah!), but you'll lose that bet in an attosecond. Let's avoid their baiting and trapping this time. For if we fall for it this time around, we are screwed forever. As a party, as a nation, and as a human race.

Indeed, Reagan might have one final chore to aid the repukes in their conquest... assuming they can't combine that with another well-timed death or two or even two thousand, depending if it's your greatest leader, your greatest opponent, or a bunch of sheep who you let die in a terrorist attack to further your goals... x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x(

The republicans know how potentially gullible the swing voter people are and are using them - via emotional puppetry and, as usual, the 'spend spend spend' routine, especially with Christmas 2003 having big predictions of being 50% better than last year being said by all on the "news". If Christmas 2003 is a success, hammer a nail in our coffin.

1. Intresting you should bring this up today- Just listened to a view of this

memorial service from Al Franken and he says basically that Kahn's speech was not a good thing to happen, but cuts him some slack because he and Wellstone were best friends- the man just lost his best friend. Franken goes on to make a solid case that the Repugs turned it into a partisan event by claiming it was a partisan event. Patisan activity did not account for the majority of the time spent on the event. I encourage everyone to get Frankens' book on CD. Made my long trip from Central NC down to North Atlanta shorter, and I learned something, that this "outrage" over Wellstones' memorial was a manufactured outrage by Repugs. It actually shows how smart they are when it comes to campiagning- they didn't want another sympathy vote, see Jean Carahan in Missouri , (Franken also suggest that the Wellstone memorial "outrage" may have hurt Carahan in her race which was happening the same year as Mondale replacing Wellstone in MN.

2. Hard to take, but true

That's not the first example I have heard of. And it doesn't surprise to hear that the Rs stoked any outrage for their political benefit. They didn't want to run against Wellstone. They wanted to run, like they always do, in anger. But there was something even I didn't like, too, about it. Paul Wellstone was bigger than one election, and even if you can understand how they felt and why they spoke out, I thought tying his legacy to one election was a mistake.
