Got home and flipped the TV on, and it was on MSNBC in the middle of Scarborough's show.
Scab was softballing Moore, and Moore showed absolutely no self-doubt, apology, or regret for what he did, or might do in the future.
He is truly convinced he is on a mission, and only he has the truth. He hears the voice of God, and God has a plan.
What he has planned next is anybody's guess, but we haven't heard the last of him. Or his supporters.
Or God.

on a religious mission. They're both religious fundamentalists which is a very dangerous thing whether Christian or Muslim or Jewish. The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians is waged by fundamentalists. Bin Laden is a fundamentalist. And so on.
There is no rational thought. It's all about their interpretation of scripture or the Koran or what they hear God telling them to do. Unfortunately, they only read what they want to read and hear what they want to hear.
Wow. I'm surprised I could rant this much so early in the morning. But they really piss me off.

that could be good. He would take away the religious nut votes from bush. but i don't think he will...he'll probably re-run for his same position when it comes up again, or go for gov.
worst case scenario: supreme court justice! (though i think hes out for that because of his disregard for the law, but the thought i senough to make you shudder!)

Moore has hinted at somehow having federal legislation introduced to "clarify" the first and/or tenth amendments. Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Amendment X The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

And it ain't just Roy. "the Alabama State Supreme Court handed down a ruling against a lesbian mother who was attempting to gain custody of her three children who had been in the court-ordered custody of their father, her former husband, since 1996. The ruling by the nine judge court was unanimous. The following are excerpts of the decision written by Judge Roy Moore:
"I write specially to state that the homosexual conduct of a parent - - conduct involving a sexual relationship between two persons of the same gender - - creates a strong presumption of unfitness that alone is sufficient justification for denying that parent custody of his or her own children or prohibiting the adoption of the children of others. In this case there is undisputed evidence that the mother of the minor children not only dated another woman, but lived with that woman, shared a bed with her, and had an intimate physical and sexual relationship with her. . . . . But Alabama expressly does not recognize same sex marriages or domestic partnerships. . . . Homosexual conduct is, and has been, considered abhorrent, immoral, detestable, a crime against nature, and a violation of the laws of nature and of nature's God upon which this Nation and our laws are predicated. Such conduct violates both the criminal and civil laws of this State and is destructive to a basic building block of society - the family. The law of Alabama is not only clear in its condemning such conduct, but the courts of this State have consistently held that exposing a child to such behavior has a destructive and seriously detrimental effect on the children. It is an inherent evil against which children must be protected."http://www.wcuweb.com/Documents/PRESSRELEASES&ARTICLES&LETTERS/2002,2-18%20Alabama%20Supreme%20Court%20Ruling.htm

16. Moore can be frightening ... |
|
because he has a "following". While he will spout all kinds of lunacy, it is the 'followers' that can be the real danger. Many of these people believe that God speaks through Moore. Rather than get in touch with God themselces, they find it easier to defend their hatreds and bias through people like Moore.
I feel sorry for those that adhere to views of tyrants and religious zealots of any ilk. After all, it would take time and efforet to actually sit down and find out what Jesus spoke of. Far easier to have someone with 'the knowledge' tell them what to think.

They are married to their beliefs. Facts, data, or current realities are no impediment to their beliefs.
Roy Moore has his liverspotted hands gnarled around those beliefs like a drunk around a bottle of gin; hermetically sealed to them even on pain of death. Glowering at the outside world like Aqualung...(fade in Jethro Tull here)

Governor doesn’t come up until 2006 ...
The rumor going around is that he is looking at running against Richard Shelby for senate. Which would be good for us.. Let them tear each other apart.. If nothing else it would make Shelby spend a lot of his huge war chest.
And that would be a FUN race to watch!

Roy Moore is an embarrasment to anyone with a brain. He's doing nothing more than playing to the religious, uneducated people of Alabama and winning. He's setting in motion political advancements to move up in the government.
First he takes away visitation rights from lesbian parents, then he polls his defendants about their religious affiliations, now this. He's selling his soul to the devil, not living a god-fearing life.
