So...NewsMax says Mohammed Atta met with Hussein's agents...
There's a thread in LBN right now detailing a NewsMax 'bombshell' report of a memo detailing connections between bin Laden and Hussein that led to September 11. The memo was apparently based upon data created by Undersecretary for Defense Douglas J. Feith.

That's right. Feith of the Office of Special Plans. Ruh roh.

The substance of the claims is based upon the metting between 9/11 hijacker Atta. Read:

Where are Iraq’s WMDs?
By Evan Thomas, Richard Wolffe and Michael Isikoff
Newsweek

Sunday 01 June 2003

(snip)

The CIA was especially wary of Chalabi, whom they regarded as a con man (Chalabi has been convicted of bank fraud in Jordan; he denies the charges). But rather than accept the CIA’s doubts, top officials in the Bush Defense Department set up their own team of intelligence analysts, a small but powerful shop now called the Office of Special Plans—and, half-jokingly, by its members, “the Cabal.”

The Cabal was eager to find a link between Saddam and Al Qaeda, especially proof that Saddam played a role in the 9-11 attacks. The hard-liners at Defense seized on a report that Muhammad Atta, the chief hijacker, met in Prague in early April 2001 with an Iraqi intelligence official. Only one problem with that story, the FBI pointed out. Atta was traveling at the time between Florida and Virginia Beach, Va. (The bureau had his rental car and hotel receipts.)

1. "based upon data created by Undersecretary for Defense Douglas J. Feith"
I think 'created' is an entirely appropriate choice of words for this Feith-based intelligence. Right on the button.

14. Neocons back and work
it is too late! We are in Iraq now, no WMDs were found, and the only way our troops will get to go home is either inside a "transfer tube," a MEDVAC flight from Landstuhl, or the inauguration of a Democratic President in 2005.

6. Ruh roh is right! Made me laugh about a story that otherwise
pisses me off unbelievably. Didn't click the link because I don't have time but the Iraqi "agent" in Prague was also a car importer meeting with a car salesman who resembles Atta.
Chalabi that POS calling himself an Iraqi exile and is seen on virtually every documentary about Saddam, never lived in Iraq under Saddam. His family were prosperous under the monarchy and when the military coup in 58 occured his family fled. The military coup had zilch to do with Saddam.

So forgive me if I perceive their journalistic credibilty with healthy skepticism (translation: They are bullshit liars, usually)

26. The Weekly Standard
is a little more legitimate than Newsmax, and the article is very detailed. Although they throw in the now-debunked Atta in Prague meeting, there is a lot of new stuff here. It deserves a careful read.

We are either in for another long hard slog of debunking, or we may have to be prepared to accept the fact that there was a greater Iraqi-Al Queda connection that we've thought to this point.

22. If they purposefully distorted the Hillary-Gold Star Moms story
What possible credibility, other than to brainwashed automatons, could they possibly have?

In fact, it was such a blatant and purposeful smear that the website for the Gold Star Mothers had for MONTHS a correction on their website about NewsMax's "misunderstanding".

I think I'd be more likely to believe a Nazi Newspaper discussing the Blood Libel (the fabrication that Jews used the blood of Christian children in Pasover matzohs) than Newsmax discussing anything.

Although NewsMax certainly mirrors the Nazi Media of 1933 in overall purpose (to launder the lies beneficial to the cause of their Leader) if not in specifics.
