I cynically say that Hillary should not be in Iowa tonight
She is the Biggest name in attendance where presidential candidates are trying to vie for national and Iowan spotlight. I cynically believe she wants the Democrats to fail so she could run in 2008. What she is doing tonight is the equivalent of someone getting interviewed then another person sticking their head in the camera shot, just on a national stage level.

14. You are right b4athought.
I said months ago (and got harranged about it). That The Clintons wanted to make sure none of the 04 canidates got elected. She wont wait till 2012. They have timed all that they do to suck the air out of the current canidates. That includes the timing of Bills book. Coming out right before thefinal decision. I know that I will get sh@t for this but it is the truth. They are making sure that if Hil isnt running in 04 then it will be open for her in 08.

Flame me all you want but I called this months ago and it is coming to be. They (the Clintons) Want to always outshadow the canidates. And they are good at it.

18. If all our candidates are so weak that they cannot stand in the same
room with her than we'll get what we deserve.

I think our stronger candidates do fine on stage with anybody.

Except big dog maybe. But who can be big dog?

21. Golly, what monsters the Clintons are.
And there's Hillary, just aching to take on a failing war, a looted treasury, starving states, and an outrageous deficit with the entire Republican media monopoly intact.

SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE she is.

After 8 years of being subpoenaed every time she blinked?

She doesn't have enough experience under her belt. She knows it. She also knows she ain't never gonna be old news.

Now, if she'd like to run for Governor of New York, well, her war vote won't matter in Albany. At least, not to me.

6. you could argue that she helped them
Didn't she sell out the event? She's a good fundraiser, and that's good for the Dems overall. She also attracts a lot of publicity, and that's good for the Dems, too.

They may come for Hillary, but they'll stay for <insert candidate of your choosing here.>

Although, I must say it was pretty funny watching Fox this afternoon. They kept talking about this, and in one clip they showed Clark (I think it was him) talking about how she was good for the party and all that, and then they showed a clip of Gephardt using the same exact words. No doubt Fox set that up to stress the "talking points" aspect.

22. They sold out her event, right?
She gets money and gets out the vote for the Democrats. Not using her would be a) discriminatory and b) stupid.

She's a strong figure in the Dem party...gives us
good remembrances of the work she and Bill did
and that's she's doing now as a Senator. She did
a wonderful job as ringmaster.

15. I sort of agree
she presents the same problem to our candidates as her husband presented to Gore. And that is trying to campaign for the nominee and energize the base, while not trying to overshadow the candidate. I want Hillary to campaign for the nominee nextyear, but I hope that she does it quietly, or else Faux will have an orgy.

24. NO Democrat should ever
Edited on Sun Nov-16-03 08:39 AM by mesquite
buckle under to the intimidation of Fox Murdoch Ailes - again. Including Hillary Clinton. Why should she run away and hide - just because Fox, Newsmax, Limbaugh etal mischaracterize her? How are we ever going to overcome the power those media outlets have over the easily brainwashed if we cave?

Democrats complete and utter failure to stick up for themselves and for each other, over the past two decades, has been one of the primary reasons the GOP has been able to take over all three branches of our federal government, and many governorships and state legislatures, imo.

Sorry, but I get so ticked off when I read crap, from fellow Dems, who counsel Democrats to "be quiet" or Murdoch and wrecking crew will take off on them. They're going to take off on any and every Dem even if we ALL run away and hide.

How are we ever going to take our country back if we keep buckling our knees at the very thought of what a greedy old ex Aussie will do if we don't shut up? We have shut-up for way too long!

edited for emphasis

And I thought she did a good job of bringing more attention to our Democratic candidates. And I say that as a GOOD thing even though my guy was not there.

Good on ya Hill! You rocked the house and cast your light on the Dem race tonight.

20. She was awesome
Her focus on needing us for 50 weeks to get Bush out and stop this rollback to before FRD, she was excellent tonight and there's no way I believe this sabatoging the Democrats bullshit. That event wouldn't have been the same without her. And I'm not a big Hillary fan either.

25. She's a sellout and has been for a long time now
She and her centrist ilk is what ails the party. She is demonized by the Right and despised by the activist Left--The ONLY vote she can muster is the vanishing demographic of the Clinton-styled, unenlightened, pop culture fed, center.

Everytime she came on the screen I changed the channel.
