Is there ANY way that Blair could be kicked out as PM
Edited on Sun Nov-16-03 01:44 AM by WillyBrandt
...in time to help us defeat Bush?

If, through internal party rebellion or whatever, Blair was ousted and replaced with whomever, I think that would knock at least a few crucial points from Shrub.

Is there ANY CHANCE of this occuring in time to be useful for us?

ON EDIT: What's the chance of this happening in time? 0%? 5%? 90%?

1. His own party has to oust him in a "No Confidence" vote
if i am not mistaken, his popularity in his party and the public has taken a huge hit recently because of Iraq, but he is just toeing the corporate line. BP has as much interest in Iraq as does Halliburton.

2. British companies haven't received any war spoils, AFAIK
In fact, Bush's best friends in the UK, Cairn Energy, aren't getting any piece of it. They issued a release saying they were going to focus their efforts on fucking up Nepal's world and weren't going to do business in Iraq.

Curious, huh?

Also, BP isn't really all British anymore. I think a lot of its equity is held by US interests, but that's always in flux.

3. Yes, his party
can chuck him out at anytime...same as the Conservatives did with Thatcher.

Whether they will or not......

4. As pissed as I am at Blair for not standing up to Bush...
on the UN government in the aftermath, I think that he doesn't deserve to be outsted because of his good domestic record. Hell, if the economy was good and people had jobs and healthcare under chimpy we probably wouldn't have a chance in 2004.

5. But the Tommies have a different system
An internal party revolt could put another guy in there. Gordon Brown is responsible for a huge amount of that progress, and I'm sure he'd love to take on Blair's spot, and apparently has been scheming that way for years.

There needn't be a new election to get rid of lying Tony

6. Pallast, although he hates all politicians, reserves extra scorn for Brown
In fact, several passages in TBDMCB follow this logic: Blair is scum because Gordon Brown is a whore for big business.

Go figure.

However, if anyone who doesn't like Blair thinks passing the reigns to Brown is an improvement, you should read Pallast.

7. Selfishness
To be honest, if it increases the chances of outing Bush, then I'd be happy if Gordon got the reigns.

That's selfish, I guess, but it's in the interests of the USA, and I think the UK too.

10. I don't understand this logic at all.
I heard a CIA agent on Democracy Now say that Bush's plan was to blame the UK for the Niger uranium thing. They want him to suffer.

I don't know how giving Bush what he wants in the UK helps Democrats here.

8. Labor will still be in control
By giving Bush all these campaign photograph Tony isn't doing us Democrats any favors. He refused Clinton a state visit during the impeachment crisis.

9. Did he really do that?
If that's the case, well, then again I don't think it's possble to respect him any less than I do already.

Oh well, I wish the British would sock him already. Though I think the majority there do understand that Blair has been Bush's bitch.

11. Get your facts straight. Labour denied Bush a parade on the Mall
and didn't force Ken Livingston's hand when Red Ken said he wouldn't close down London for Bush.

The governments in the UK are intentionally DENYING Bush the photo-op the fascist Queen invited him over there for.

12. Huh?
It is my understanding that the bu$h administration set this visit up two years ago. The invite did not come from G.B.
