A good friend -- and one of the most progressive people I know -- is a Brahmin.
And I fail to see how this is an issue with Jindal, who isn't even a freepin' Hindu to begin with.

Besides Hindus, there are Muslims, Jains, and Farsis, as well as Christians, and I'm sure there are Buddhists and Jews as well. One of the Emporers created a city, called Pratapasiki (misspelled, I know), where he employed craftsmen of many different faiths and tried to get people to live and work together in harmony.
