United Seniors Assoc. runs ads in Tennessee

The Drug industry buys USA (the group and more literally the country)

The conservative front organization United Seniors Association (USA) is running ads here in Tennessee and giving out the phone numbers of democrat Congressman Lincoln Davis and republican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn.

The ad asks seniors to call and "thank" them for their support of HR1 Medicare Prescription Drug and Modernization Act of 2003.

"During the last 17 months, USA has spent $12 million on issue ads – some that badger Democrats and others that praise Republican members of Congress for their votes on key legislation. (See Table 1 and Appendix A) Moreover, USA is the biggest ad spender so far in the 2002 election cycle (1) – not bad for a group that didn’t spend a cent on issue ads in the previous election cycle."
