"The last time Mr Bush dined with the Queen ..."
"The last time Mr Bush dined with the Queen - in 1992 at his father's White House, wearing cowboy boots emblazoned with God Save the Queen - he asked if she had any black sheep in her family.

"Don't answer that!" his mother, Barbara, interjected, trying to avoid embarrassment. This time he's the President, the man in charge. The dynamics could be significantly different.

Security, however, is the obsession. As the anti-war protesters prepare to fill Trafalgar Square with unflattering images of the "cowboy" President and the Downing Street "poodle", mild panic has set in behind the scenes."

Am I the only one who thinks this whole trip could be a disaster for *?

1. I don't know
I'm beginning to wonder about all these stories recounting Scotland Yard outrage over White House demands. This may be another one of their "lowering expectations" ploys.

In any event, if the protests are big (which I think they will be) and remain peaceful, the "trip" will be a success for the Brits!

2. We can only hope
As long as it doesn't bring more shame on the U.S. If he embarasses himself that's his own problem.

4. Re, 1992 dinner with the Queen: talk about classic Freudian projection!
Paraphrasing well-worn advice: you don't shit where you eat, George.

Can't wait to see if he's any wittier this week with his "cousin" Elizabeth and the family.

5. he IS a disaster
Perhaps he could one-up his father and puke in the Queen's lap. Of course, I would love it if only that I despise royalty as much as I despise the Bush clan.

6. Indeed
I would definitely like to see * spew Nigella Lawson's menu right into the lap of the archaic monarchy. Here's to hoping it gets caught on film!

9. * may meet his match with Prince Philip.
Philip is much older, very bigoted, and given to saying what he thinks, regardless of who is present, including the Queen. * would be no match whatsoever for that guy, should they get into a piss fight!!

Oh, please, please, please!!! Complete details would certainly get into the UK papers!! :bounce:
