We need a new leader in the senate. |
|
Daschle is a decent senator and all, but he's not a very good leader of our senators. We need change, and soon, especially considering the recent news that at least 4 southern democrats are retiring, which could swing the senate even more to the right.
Any thoughts on who could be a good majority (wishful thinking) leader instead of Daschle?

10. Durbin is fiery as all get out when he wants to be. |
|
He is well respected in the state. Very solid in his seat. I have met him personally. I was a cub scout and he was running for a congress for the first time. Our whole pack met him. My mother new his secratary or something like that. :smoke:

Daschle has been weak and ineffective since day one, and the fact that he's from a solid red state doesn't help at all. This is probably why he's so timid.
I'd much rather have someone like Tom Harkin or Barbara Boxer serve as majority leader.

Just a thought. I know it is probably not convienent, given that fact he's out and about running a campaign and all...but he seems to be fiery enough for the job.

8. Yeah, too bad he's gone though. |
|
The state of NC will miss him, but he'll be back hopefully.
(This post assumes he doesn't get the nomination. Aldian159 writes off no one for the nomination, nor does he crown Dean.)

Daschle just doesnt seem strong. He isnt strong on message, conviction, or personality. I like the man but we need someone with wetted mouth and blood in their eyes. Someone with fire inda belly. :smoke:

I'd say Harry Reid.
Comes across as temperate and thoughtful, but has some real fire in the belly.

7. Totally agree . . . his idea of outrage is to blink vigorously |
|
He's Mr. Milquetoast. He'd be fine against opponents who weren't . . . well, Republicans, i.e., stop at nothing power mongers who politicize war, religion, and anything else they can make hay out of out. Utterly shameless.
Not to mention actually subverting the democratic process of voting etc.

14. Yeah, I thought of Teddy |
|
but his era was ten years ago. He's still a great Senator, possibly up there with like Clay and Lodge (I hate Lodge, but can't deny his power and the way he dominated the Senate for the first twenty years of the 20th Century). I want a leader who can take us into the next decade or longer.

17. Durbin, Schumer, or Kennedy. |
|
Personally, I think we need someone who is fiery like Kennedy. Byrd would also make a good choice, despite his age, but I think we need him as President pro tempore.

20. We need a Senator who will first lead Democrats rebelling against Daschle. |
|
this means challenging him on all votes in which he encourages Democratic support for Shrub's worthless policies, while gathering rebel Democrats to vote against shrub and Daschle. Once this leader is able to regularly gather more votes than Daschle on these key votes, then this Senator can build on this support to replace Daschle as the Democratic leader.

that guy makes Alan Colmes look like a firebrand.
He's a disgrace.
His wife probably beats him, too.
