Ethics & Voting by Absentee Ballot |
|
This question hasn't been plaguing me by any means, but maybe you can give me some insight.
I've recently moved to Indiana for grad. school from Charleston, SC. I'm still a registered voter there, and the primary in South Carolina can be pivotal (e.g. Bush vs. McCain). I'd like to vote by absentee ballot, then switch my registration to Indiana. I think this would be a legal move. Does this strategy bother anyone?

As long as you do not vote twice in the same election. Students get their choice. But, um, aren't you thinking about the 2000 primary? I think it's over and see little chance that Cousin John will contest in 2004.

I was using the 2000 primary as an example of how the SC primary matters. I thought that someone might argue that "South Carolina doesn't matter!", where I feel that it is potentially important to the race (politically and commercially).

If Indiana is your home for the foreseable future, you should vote there.

you probably should wait and switch your registration until after the election, so your absentee ballot vote doesn't come into question.

5. Unless Indiana's primary |
|
is also important, vote in SC, then switch registration and vote in the general election in Indiana. Just don't vote in two different primaries.
