Message to Rush
Dear Rush,

Before you checked in you visited here frequently, that must be because at some level you knew that we knew the truth that you couldn’t speak. You now have the opportunity to set yourself free from the burdens your lies carry with them. There is nothing that you have done that can be undone, but if you start today you can enlighten your followers with the truth. Your lies have cost lives in war, damaged the environment, cut benefits to veterans and advocated treason in the White House, that is just the tip of the iceberg. There came a point that you couldn’t continue to cause so much harm without massive consumption of opiates to numb yourself from the injury you perpetuated, if you really are sober now it will be impossible to remain so and continue the deception.

If you continue as you had been only continued tragedy will result. You have a rare opportunity to be a strong force for good, take it! Starting today only say what is true, you can help the world to become a better place. Remember, the truth will set you free.

I’ll pray for you.

3. Another message for limbaugh
You are a waste of space. Now that you are "clean" are you going to have any compassion for druggies? If they are poor and/or a minority, it's doubtful. So why don't you just go away and live off of your already vast fortune and leave people alone? Haven't listened since I nearly drove off the road because I was upset by your drivel, and won't listen ever again. You are a walking advertisement for birth control. Sorry if I seem harsh, but I really have no use for this guy and all he seems to stand for. Kick him when he's down, we may never get this chance again.

5. He isn't going to change.
His defenders say that he stopped attacking addicts when he became one himself, no hypocrisy there, none at all. What they don’t mention is that even on his last pre-rehab show he said that criminals are criminals, and implied that they can’t be changed.

He is a pathetic addicted shell. That is all he will ever be. But maybe…..

7. Don't blame Rush
For not being in jail where he belongs.
Blame the DA who refused to bring him up on charges because he's a fellow Repuke OR a coward afraid of the 'MegaDitto' crowd.
Another rich Repuke gets away with a crime.

4. Rush could begin his 'rehabilitation'...
...by submitting himself to legal authorities and spending at least a couple months in jail.

- There are literally millions of AMERICANS in jail for committing 'drug crimes' that don't come close to YOUR crime of the illegal posession of thousands of a highly potent pain killer.

- You could finally do a 'great good' for society by showing that you're for 'equal justice' under the law.

6. You are right, there is that personal responsibility thing
he pushes so hard. Um, Rush, doesn’t that mean admitting to the dittos that your maid didn’t have a license to prescribe narcotics? Wouldn’t that also include submitting yourself to random drug tests to keep your driver’s license?

Wouldn’t that mean honesty?

8. Rush if you can’t bring yourself to tell the truth,
just stop doing harm. This might be a more viable solution for you so early in your recovery. It may take more than you have at this point to let them know the truth, but you can stop lying just by taking more time off. Keep extending the amount of time you need to “recover.” It will be much easier for you to live with yourself if you aren’t causing more misery to the world even, if you aren’t ready to make amends yet.

They believe everything you say no, matter how preposterous, so this will actually get you even more sympathy. You can claim that your back pain is still so severe that you are seeking treatment for that at pain centers around the world, you can say that you are committed to finding nonnarcotic alternatives, they will believe you, really they will. They may even love you more for your “courage” in light of your “suffering.” This wouldn’t be the total honestly that will set you free, but it will give you time to recover well enough that you may eventually reach that point. Rush, you can do it. Just try.

9. BENNETT: Rush "Manly". Gallup: 51% Unfave. Dittoheads Stay.
******QUOTE*****

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/17/arts/17RUSH.html
.... Nonetheless, Mr. Bennett sought in the interview to distinguish his own shortcomings from the conduct of Mr. Limbaugh, a close friend who has dined at his home, once with Justice Clarence Thomas. "Not an addiction," Mr. Bennett said of his own actions, as if ticking off a list of talking points, "not a problem, no therapy, gambling too much, stopped it."

And yet Mr. Bennett said that Mr. Limbaugh deserved to be judged less severely than former President Bill Clinton, a Democrat and perennial Limbaugh target, who was impeached in 1999 over his deceptions regarding an affair with a White House intern. "He's not president of the United States," Mr. Bennett said of Mr. Limbaugh. "He's not blaming his accusers. He's not lying. He's not lying under oath."

"He was manly," Mr. Bennett added of Mr. Limbaugh. "He was straightforward." ....

.... But despite what appears to be a one-two punch to his career, industry insiders say it is unlikely that Limbaugh's show will suffer.

"He went into this as the No. 1 talk show host in the country, and he'll come out of it that way," Bohannon said.

"His value has gone up because of what happened," Harrison said. "If Rush is able to be OK physically and mentally, his ratings will go up. His career will be invigorated by this colorful episode, which makes him a more interesting person."

In October, Premiere released partial results of a survey of Limbaugh's audience indicating that only 8 percent of his listeners had lost respect for him. (The company declined to release the survey in its entirety.) Premiere said no advertisers or stations defected from the show. ....

http://www.gallup.com/poll/releases/pr031117.asp
.... But a new Gallup Poll conducted Nov. 10-12 shows that just 34% of Americans at this time hold a favorable view of Limbaugh, while 51% hold an unfavorable view. ....

10. I think that someone
is trying to tell Rush something but he won't listen. First, the big guy sends you a pebble and if you don't listen he sends a rock and if you still won't listen he sends a boulder. His hearing loss may have been the pebble, his drug addiction is probably the rock. If he does not stop then I believe the boulder is on its way.

13. And with any downer/opiate addiction this severe
The boulder is death due to OD. I've seen and worked with too many addicts to be suckered into the idea that after a miraculous month in rehab Rush is all better. Addictions like this take years to kick, and I don't care who you are, you're setting yourself up for a big fall if you think that you've got yourself together and clean after one month.

Rush is teetering on the brink with his pill intake as high as it is. Pretty soon his body will demand even larger quantities of the drug, and needling it is in the cards. Once he starts that(if he hasn't already), OD and death is not far behind.

Get a clue Rush, no amount of money, fame or power is worth losing your life. Ditch your show altogether until you have your head TRULY together. Otherwise that monkey is going to be right back on you, more verocious than ever.

21. This is exactly what he needs to see
In Piss Test NCO school they discussed intervention--with the usual warning of "don't try this yourself; you will make things worse." We learned all about "raising the bottom."

There are a lot of alcoholics and/or drug addicts who won't start down the road to recovery until they've hit bottom, so what you need to do is to make the bottom "he pissed in his wall locker then got in bed with me" (which wouldn't be all bad until you consider that "me" was another male soldier) instead of "he goes to the club every night, drinks twelve beers, then drives himself home, walks in the door and beats the shit out of me and the kids before falling down in the bathtub and sleeping in a puddle of puke."

The alternative to us roughing him up until he gets his shit together is to send him a copy of the OxyContin package insert with "LD50" circled in red pen and directions to the closest large-animal veterinarian, where they have a scale that can not only weigh his lard ass, but can be set to metric. Do I wish Limbaugh a fatal OD? No, not at all, but I don't relish the alternative: Limbaugh ODs, they pump his stomach, the dittoheads come back with "We're with ya all the way, Rush!" Then he ODs again, they pump his stomach again, the dittoheads send flowers and letters of encouragement. He fucking ODs again and the local fire department installs a stomach pump in his abode. No, if he is going to OD, I want it to work the first time.

12. What world are you living in?
Can I join you?

Mr. Limbaugh does NOT read DU to find the "truth". Mr. Limbaugh is not as dumb as he pretends to be. He deliberately depicts a one sided story to appease his loyal listeners base.
He comes here to find dirt, like paparazzi trail celebrities. He digs through our garbage, because our trash is his cash.

Mr. Limbaugh will not have changed through his rehab experience. It's anybody's guess how he will spin the situation, but he is not coming back on the radio to 'set things straight'.

No, this is MY message to Mr. Limbaugh.

Dear sir,

They say good things happen to good people. Sometimes bad things happen to good people, and sometimes...oh well, let's not go there.
I'll be glad to hear your daily ravings again during my lunch hour. I need that constant reminder that the other side is guided by calculated idiot demagogs like yourself. It gives me the warm and fuzzy feeling that I am doing the right thing, working this side of the fence.

You make your money off of lies, Mr. Limbaugh, and you know it. You are proud of it. Now you got caught in one.
Many people have already reminded you of the stance you took on drug addiction. Of course it is completely different when you are a millionair white republican talk show host on pain medication then when you are a poor black inner-city kid on crack cocaine, right?
I won't remind you of that again in this message.

But you can be sure I will remind you of that on your show, and I hope the millions of people who listen to it in pleasant disgust with me will do the same thing. Just a friendly reminder from time to time, that you are indeed the original big FAT liar.

Welcome back, Mr. Limbaugh.

15. Maybe he did come here to find the worst of us.
But during the last days before rehab he sent his listeners here at least twice, he had to been visiting also. Now, in order to come up with the outrageous lies that he did he had to understand both sides of the issue, or the truth then the fabrication based on a single thread of truth. He would visit here to find out the truth, and then weave from it the fantasy of hate that he preached.

Sure when he found ammunition here and he used it, but he had to see that even if we have our fair share of trolls, disruptors or even garden variety whackos there is more truth here than anywhere on the right. My personal opinion is that the extremist here that make the majority of posts that get quoted by the right are the authors themselves or their agents. Rush knows that, he didn’t call attention to reasoned discussions, but he had to have read them.

My assumption could very well be faulty, but in case I’m right it may benefit everyone to remind Rush that he has an unusual power to make the world a better place. Maybe he will listen. There is no harm in trying.

19. At this early point I’m very pessimistic.
He sounds euphoric, arrogant, paranoid and not all that honest. He is admitting he is powerless over the addiction, but says his politics haven’t changed. That must mean that the lies will continue. He has promised to continue his lies to the listeners.

Oh well.
