W-foreigners in Iraq seek revenge "for getting whipped in Afghanistan"
I found this while looking for caption photos.

Make sure you check out the Yahoo link (provided) right after the quote.

A BBC handout photograph released on November 16, 2003 shows Britain's Sir David Frost(L) interviewing Bush at the White House. Bush said foreigners were fighting in Iraq (news - web sites) because they wanted to install a Taliban-style government or were seeking revenge 'for getting whipped in Afghanistan (news - web sites).' Bush, who pays a three-day visit to Britain this week, told BBC television he did not know if deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) was behind the escalating violence but added: 'All I know is that we are after him.' (Paul Morse, BBC/Reuters)

1. I saw that interview
and HE WAS SOOO ARROGANT!!! He said that he doesn't look at polls. I am sorry, but sometimes you have to look at it a little bit Mr. President. If the ENTIRE world is against the world, I WOULD BE VERY CONCERNED!!! No wonder there is so much anti-americanism. He is unwilling to acknowledge it.

Also, the interviewer asked Bush, "Do you believe that Iraq could have attacked Britain in 45 minutes?" And he TOTALLY ducked that question. It wasn't a straight answer at all.

2. He actually said he doesn't look at polls?
What a bald face LIE that is. Their whole operation is poll driven and the entire message is aimed at focus group tested themes.

Okay maybe Rove looks at the polls but he and Rove are one in the same. "The Boy and the Genius" I believe the book is titled.

Sheesh. Where/when was the interview on?

9. The text is at Salon
But yeah, he probably doesn't. He probably sees politics and polls as beneath him along with sanity and making sense. As a member of the privileged class it's for his underling who he clearly has little to no respect for to watch the polls.

But, fortunately for him, "Turd Blossom" Rove is loyal and pretty smart and reads them polls for him.

3. "Whipped" may be a fleeting status
From a NY Times Editorial
<snip>
And now, less than two years after President Bush celebrated his first military victory, Afghanistan is in danger of reverting to a deadly combination of rule by warlords and the Taliban, the allies and protectors of Osama bin Laden.

A revived Taliban army, flush with new recruits from Pakistan, is staging a frightening comeback. Major cities remain in the hands of the corrupt and brutal warlords. Much of the countryside is too dangerous for aid workers. The postwar pro-American government led by Hamid Karzai rules Kabul and little else. Opium poppies are once again a major export crop. And Osama bin Laden remains at large.

8. Bwah! How true. They should just declare victory, plant a flag...
...and get the hell out.

Wait...That's sort of what they did in Afghanistan...

12. Homely Analogies
Bush's use of homely analogies may not have the same effect in England that they have in America. When he talks about giving somebody an ass-whipping, it suggests a fair fight. But the people in England know that America is a global behemoth. It's possible that Bush's humble pie act will actually offend them.
