What is Bush running from ? |
|
Usually presidents travel overseas to bring up their polls domestically or to escape the wrath of a big story that is about to break. How long was this visit to Britain in the works? Is there a big story about to break in the next couple of days? Does Dubya think he can hide under Tony's skirt or inside the Queen's pants?

1. If it has anything to do with Iraq |
|
...he's come to the wrong place. The Brit press will skewer him without hesitation, and the US media - already having the England satellite hookup and lazy reporters ready to go - will follow.

2. It was planned long ago |

So long ago, they thought it a good idea to schedule a since-cancelled horse-drawn parade.
But disaster has overtaken "triumph." This will be a fiasco.

3. Actually I've read commentary |
|
talking about how Brave President Bush is and how this shows he doesn't care about politics. After all why face the British Media (which has considerably more teeth)? Why emphasize his relationship with one of his few interenational allies at a time when such support will cost Blair considerably.
It doesn't make much sense to me. We'll see what happens over the next week.

4. This visit was planned |

immediately after * played fighter pilot hawking that mission was accomplished.
Guess it looked like a great idea at the time.
Can't understand why * is putting himself in such a bad position by going to Britian. I bet Blair tried to talk him out of it.

and whip his "supporters" into a frenzy of how bad the rest of the world is treating him. It will be us (US) against the world, all rallying behind our idiot son leader. Give us the right to do anything in our go it alone quest. Next step in the PNAC vision. They call it vision, I think of it as end of the world Armageddon stuff...

<Shifts toothpick from one corner of his mouth to the other> Whaddya got?
I think this trip was planned a long time ago, perhaps as long ago as the Flop Gun Photo Op, and was at that time supposed to be a triumphal march through London and other places English, to show what wonderful men both Stupidhead and the Poodle are. Unfortunately, world events didn't transpire as they were supposed to, and now they look like Col. Blake and Radar, pinned down in the showers by the enemy sniper on that M*A*S*H episode.
It couldn't have happened to a nicer couple of blokes.

7. But it could have been postponed or cancelled altogether? |
|
Could it not?
I think perhaps Bush might want to brief Tony on his change in policy on Iraq so they are on the same page with their lies..

propaganda.
Darned shame liz won't be seen in public with him; Prince Charles won't receive him at all, and parlament told him to take a hike; that they wanted nothing to do with him.
Thank goodness this propaganda is costing us that $57,000 an hour!!!!
