Does Mary Landrieu have a chance at the VP nom?
Just wondering if any of you think Landrieu (Senator from Louisiana) has a chance at getting the VP nomination? It could bring Louisiana into the Dem. fold. Also, she took on the Bush machine in 2002 and won. Plus, now that Louisiana has a Dem. governor, we would not loose a Senate seat. Finally, it would be nice to see a female in the running for one of the top offices in the land.

What do you think? Which candidate(s) do you think would consider her?

2. Ahhh
I really think that Landrieu does have a shot at the nomination. I really didn't know anything about her until she showed up on the Senate floor during the Judicial nominations. She was one of the best speakers during the entire hoopla.

I think the Republicans really helped the Democrats by exposing to the nation the talent that is in our Democratic party.

6. Would depend on who the nominee
here chances are betten slim and zilch. If its Clark, it's a slim possibility. If it's Dean, he needs Clark, Kerry or Graham.

And I am glad of it. Landrieu is in the pocket of big oil.

7. I doubt it
The VP should complement the nominee.

I'm a Dean supporter, so of course I hope that he gets the nomination. His greatest strengths are his ability to generate excitement and enthusiasm and his strong domestic record. So, for him, I'd pick a VP with some foreign policy creds, maybe Graham, Clark or Richardson.

If Clark got the nomination, he'd need somebody with greater domestic experience, like a governor. Again, Graham or Richardson would be better than Landrieu.

If Kerry got the nomination, he'd need somebody who could add some jazz to the ticket. Also, although Kerry has a long and distinguished record of liberalism, he's done some things lately that many in "the base" find fault with. Landrieu's not all that liberal, but she does bring diversity to the ticket which would help people get excited. I think Richardson would do that, too.

8. Not out of the question - depends on the nominee
She brings alot to the table.

1. She is relatively moderate
2. Southerner
3. Well Spoken
4. Louisiana could be close...she could pull it over
5. Would energize the women's vote, which could be critical in several close states (Wisconsin, Washington, Oregon, Michigan etc)

If Dean or Kerry is the nominee I think it is less likely. If Clark were to get the nomination, it would be a pretty good choice.

9. No
As much as I like her spirit, I just got the head's up
that she is for drilling in Alaska and voted yes on the
ban on late term abortions. That won't fly with pro-choice
women.
