No diplomatic immunity for Shrub's agents in UK
This was forwarded to me by somebody on the Veterans for Kucinich email listserv. Can you believe the idiocy of our pResident, and his cavalier attitude towards the British people?

'Shoot-to-kill' demand by US
Martin Bright, home affairs editor
Sunday November 16, 2003
The Observer

Home Secretary David Blunkett has refused to grant diplomatic immunity to armed American special agents and snipers travelling to Britain as part of President Bush's entourage this week.

In the case of the accidental shooting of a protester, the Americans in Bush's protection squad will face justice in a British court as would any other visitor, the Home Office has confirmed.

The issue of immunity is one of a series of extraordinary US demands turned down by Ministers and Downing Street during preparations for the Bush visit.

These included the closure of the Tube network, the use of US air force planes and helicopters and the shipping in of battlefield weaponry to use against rioters.

Please go read the rest of this story if you can. The demands Shrub is making are nothing short of outlandish.

I mean, closing down the Tube? As anybody who has lived and worked in Greater London knows, you simply can't get around without the Underground. For all its problems, it does a fantastic job of getting anyone from here to there-- be they homeless person, student, tourist, office and shop workers or businessman from the City. The busses are generally reliable as well, but can get very slow during rush hours and are not a viable option for many people who need to get someplace in a timely manner.

Not to mention the request for "diplomatic immunity" for an agent who wounds or kills a British citizen while "protecting" the pResident.

It just goes to show how Shrub is the most hated person in the WORLD right now, despite the fact that Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein are still alive and walking the earth.
