* compared Iraq to the Philippines a few weeks back, and now Rummy is comparing Iraq to South Korea... I guess we can plan on US troops in Iraq for 50-100 years? Did they have to come up with something new after the Philippines myth was shot down?

1. Troops there forever
There is NO reason to suspect this administration has ANY plans for pulling the troops out of Iraq at ANYTIME in the future. They are there to stay as a military strike force capable of projecting US power into any adjacent Arab nation Bush decrees part of the Axis of Evil, or whatever asshole slogan he comes up with next.

How this will sit with those very same adjacent neighbors doesn't enter into the fantasy neo-con world view.

There will be much more of our blood spilled before this disaster runs its course.

3. But, didn't Herr Cheney say
That the time our troops would spend in Iraq would be measured not in months, but in weeks?

so there's a plan for a puppet dictator, with a fascist-military regime for decades after that--meet your new boss, same as the..

Either these "under the radar" slips of what they really have in mind are to be appreciated for the candor, or somebody needs to throw these clowns a decent history book to avoid these silly remarks in the future.
