Bush's Visit to England, I just listened to democracy now and they said
that Bush asked them to strength the walls of the Buckingham Palace suite where he would be staying. The americans brought their own sniffer dogs and 250 guards. I do not remember this kind of overkill when Clinton traveled. You would think that the newspeople would have reported it. I can't help but feel that the term Ugly American is alive and well.

2. President Clinton was only despised by local freepers
He had nothing to worry about abroad, the world loves him. Bush can't say that.

5. Did you hear about the "mini gun"
that they wanted to bring? It's designed to shoot buckshot into crowds, killing several dozen people at a time in order to clear a path.

The Brits turned the request down. But why the heck did they need to ask?

18. Yeah, that and the "shoot to kill" request that was summarily denied.
Geez, some trigger-happy SS agent could easily shoot a civilian on protest and they wanted to get away with it. GB officials said if they did that, they'd have to stand trial jsut like anyone else.

Just goes to show that Shrubco is using state-sponsored terrorism to try and stop honest and open public protest.

10. Well there was the problem with jailing all the kangaroos

In Living History, Hillary talked about a trip to Aust. and they went to stay at (I believe) the PM country estate.

They told her, they caught all the local kangaroos, and she asked why and they said, kangaroos give Bill sinus problems.........

No roos no sinus problems.......LOL

Queen Elizabeth has rejected a request from President George Bush's security advisers to bolster Buckingham Palace's structural defences against a terrorist attack during his state visit to Britain this week.

Senior courtiers said that the Queen was not willing to countenance bomb and airborne assault proofing that would have involved substantial alterations to her London home.

<snip>

One courtier said: "They wanted blast and bullet-proofed windows and curtains and some strengthening to the walls of the President's suite and other rooms at the Palace where he would be spending time. The President's security men seem obsessed with the idea of an airborne attack on the Palace.

"Her Majesty takes the view that no amount of strengthening of windows and walls could protect the President in such an eventuality and that the work would cause disruption and involve discarding original fixtures and fittings."

The Queen has also limited the number of American security staff who will stay at the Palace. "Her Majesty's view throughout was that since there are going to be 5000 British police officers involved in the security operation for the President, it's not unreasonable to expect her guests to have some faith in their abilities," the courtier said.

16. if he's such a danger magnet, why is he jeapordizing the Queen's life?

I mean, if he's that certain he needs to be protected against aerial attack -- he is not doing his hosts a favour by shacking up with them.

17. Lizzy, you GO girl. lol
Hell if I had concrete poured in MY original 15th century home.
And she is right. A concrete wall against an airborne attack? Stopping a 747 with some plaster is like building a chain link fence to keep your elephant in the back yard, is it not?

Well, considering the IRA got to Maggie Thatcher almost twice, we might get lucky. Then again, assanination plots never work on evil dictators. Only on the good guys.
