Poll question: Should DU candidate supporters stop posting polls & pics?
Edited on Tue Nov-18-03 04:50 PM by JackRiddler
Two simple suggestions for improving the atmosphere here. This is not a proposal for the mods. This is an appeal to the members.

1. Please stop posting polling results. Put them on LBN. All of these polls are meaningless at this stage, anyway. It's just a backdoor method of campaigning.

2. Please remove the extra candidate photos from your profiles. Pretty-please. I mean all of them. Use them for your avatar, if you like, but get rid of the extra graphics at the bottom. It is really wearing me down. I hang out here too much and I'm sick of ALL of their faces. You are NOT doing your candidate any favors by forcing people to see his (usually his) face 13 times in the same thread.

Let's have it out but let's be more substantive, okay?

Agree or disagree?

1. How about an option
for I like the poll posts, but could do without the loads of photos?

4. I guess that's the second choice in the poll...
I'll rephrase it for you.

7. Speaking as a dialup user...
... I find the huge-assed graphics used in signature lines, etc., anoying as hell. Some of us live in places where neither DSL nor cable internet is available, so it's not like we're just too cheap to get something else. :grr:

8. Not to mention the bandwidth it takes up on DU...
which = more DU costs
which = less pay for the Admins

9. Oh yeah!
I think you've hit on a pretty definitive argument here:

get rid of that silly graphic of your candidate in the signature line - save DU money - it's almost like a contribution!

11. How about a DU dress code also? And absolutely
no profanity worse than gosh darn. And no negative posting about candidates, even if they are discovered to be hostile aliens from outer space. And while we are at it, let's eliminate avatars all together. And no emoticons either. And......:wtf:

Um, I guess I really disagree. I'm a real big fan of freedom of speech and self expression.:dem:

must we be subjected to seeing the same mugs of candidates, 38 times a day? There's a difference between expression (however corny) and advertising.

EDITED TO ADD: I got no problems with fuck-words. The 7 words you can't say on TV (this may have changed, I'm old) are fuck, shit, cunt, motherfucker, cocksucker, piss and tits.

I just got a problem with tedium.
