Who will be more likely to vote Democratic? |
|
1- British (I Love 'Em for) Protesting bush*?
2- US Citizens Protesting the FTAA?
Not meant to belittle what is going down in London.
But right here in the USA, the constitution has practically been
suspended to impede US citizens protesting bush* policies.
What do DUers think of the impending FTAA?
Have We given up on being able to effect change in our own Country?
Is the outside World our only Hope?
Or is it just more fun to watch a bush* protest?

1. good question - and all our Dem leaders are FOR the FTAA |
|
Why are Democrats here so quick to show support for the left in other countries while we attack our own left so viciously here? Exactly which side is the Democratic party on?

2. Are the Dem leaders for the FTAA? |
|
I guess that would explain it better than any of the options I
listed above.
The thing is, DU seems full of leaders in their own right so maybe
most Duers support the FTAA too.

4. FTAA is a sellout of democracy |
|
Your question was a bit unclear.
I believe that many FTAA protesters are too disgusted with BOTH parties because of corporate control and influence.
Kucinich stood by them in Seattle so he is respected.
I think FTAA is criminal. Secretive corporate dealmaking will be given power over local and national governments to an unacceptable manner. It will permit the swarm of locusts to continue their march through Latin America, on their way to cheaper labor in the far east. It will reduce local self-sufficiencies such as small farms in poor countries by flooding the markets with Monsanto-patented Cargill-produced food from the U.S., dramatically increasing poverty and unemployment and resulting in mass migrations.
When I posted a poll here about how DUers viewed the "anti-globalization movement" (aka fair traders), the response was very positive -- 65% - 70% favorable, with 42% and 15% agreeing with a characterization of them as "Jedi knights" or "Shambala warriors".
But I would prefer much more discussion of the trade agreements, as well as serious efforts towards making the Dem party less corporate.
