Fletcher's seat
Will there be a special election for it?

1. Yes, in late January/early February
Republican leaning, but I think there's an outside chance we could win it if we contest it. After all, the representative before Fletcher was Democrat Scotty Baesler.

4. A Lot Of It Depends On Fletcher
It seems that a lot of his staff and team are lobbyists and others have conflicts of interests and cases with the state.

I hope he screws up royally.

2. Yes, there will be soon
I don't have a subscription to Roll Call so I don't know the details but they say that a special election will be called. I think it will be held pretty soon and I saw somewhere else that there will be no primaries. Democrats are hoping that Ben Chandler will run for this seat but I believe the frontrunner is viewed as republican St. Senator Alice Forgy Kerr.

NRCC Takes Verbal Swing at Chandler
November 18, 2003
With Rep. Ernie Fletcher (R) set to be sworn in as Kentucky’s governor in three weeks, the National Republican Congressional Committee issued a veiled threat to Democrats’ first-choice candidate in the upcoming special election to replace the 6th district Congressman.

5. I know
That is the best part of the Washington Journal. I haven't been able to get the Washington Journal video to work on my computer for the past few days. Unfortunately, I can't watch them in the morning.

It would probably be easier to just get a subcription to rollcall.com. Then, I could actually read the stories.
