Did the DNC buy 100,000's of Hillary's books?
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 12:50 AM by Philosophy
O'Reilly claimed this on his show today. Says this is the only reason her book was above his on the best seller list.

18. More to the point: if he accuses someone else of it, he's doing it himself
I wonder how many of his books are gathering dust in the RNC's headquarters at this very minute.

Classic. You have political allies buying your books in bulk. Best defense is to accuse your political enemies of bulk buys. That way, even if your own fraud becomes accepted fact, your core audience knows that "everyone does it, even Hilary Clinton".

3. no
I work for a bookstore and I will tell anyone that Hillary's book sold incredibly well.

Probably the biggest selling nonfiction book of the year.

6. Probably not
But it is a poorly-kept secret that several conservative books have been bought en masse but conservative companies. The New York Times uses a symbol next to the book to indicate that the statistics they compiled included bulk orders.

This topic has come up several times -- I'm sure some of the "veterans" will weigh in soon!

8. NY Times put a + by books bought mass sales.
Take a look one week, and you will see what I mean. Hilary's never had a plus by it.

10. I looked for the dagger next to HRC's book and never saw it.
O'Reilly is totally full of shit. I heard Al Franken run through all the lies O'Reilly told on Fresh Air. It's very funny how much that guy lies.

11. Well lets try to look at this from Bill's POV
The only reason his books do well is Mellon Scaiffe
buys them by teh truck load, and the same goes
for Annie Coulter, so from his POV the explanation is
logical, even if wrong

12. Why doesn't he..
take out his anger on the RNC since they didn't bulk buy enough of his latest instead of trying to pin the blame for his poor performance on some VLWC.

13. Here is an absolutely true story
A particualr conservative organization that shall remain nameless bought MANY, MANY copies of Conason et. al. "The Hunting of the President" under the impression that it was an anti-Clinton book. When they received it and realized it was an anti-Clinton witchhunt book, they attempted to return the copies. Uh, DENIED. I expect a buyer at this dumbass organization lost his or her job.

Absolutely true. Laughed my ass off when told the story.

in Phila, people were only "given" a "limit" of two books to be signed, however, were able to purchase as many as they liked and did.

20. The DNC is very sneaky
Instead of buying the books in bulk, they sent staffers all around the country to stand in long lines at bookstores when Hillary appeared.

17. If I were the DNC, I'd not only refute, but very publicly DEMAND....
...that O'Reilly either retract, or show proof.

You know, I saw this yesterday, and thought nothing of it, but it's exactly this type of petty bullshit that sticks in the back of people's heads, especially non-political folks, and they bring it up, any time they're involved in a political discussion.

The DNC should not sit back and let this slide. I think they should raise hell and expose, for everybody, what an arrogant fraud O'Reilly is.

O'Reilly is about as trustworthy as a "send this to everyone you know" bulk email.

...Why do people listen to O'Really and Limbaugh and then come here to report what they have to say? If I WANTED to know what they had to say I'd LISTEN to their shows.

- I believe people bring this shit in here just to make us mad or put us on the defensive. Enough! I don't care what he has to say on any subject.

23. It's GUILT talking!
He has people like Richard Mellon Scaife who purchase 1000's of books from RW publishers so the RWer's can hit the NY Times Best Seller list. Everything that comes out of that man's mouth is garbage. He called himself an "Independent" and Al Franken had to show him he lied. He's a REGISTERED repuke. He's a damn liar! Don't believe a word he says. Don't believe anything any repuke says...they lie, lie, lie. DIARRHEA OF THE MOUTH! If a repuke says it, it's safe to assume it is not true and just the opposite IS true.

And the fact that they were giving her book away on HIS NEWS CHANNEL..Nope im sure " Im a fibbing scumbag" O'Reilly did not mention that at all..Or the mass bulk selling of coulters book thats a documented fact. Or the fact that O'reilly, Hannity and wet noodle Colmbs are useing air time to sell thire books and products.. O'reilly is indipendant like the pope is a southern baptist. Oh sure he may say things now and then that may seem lib but thats just an act.
Hes just mad beacuse Moore and Franken are beating the puss out of his splotchy self in the NYT best seller list..And he WILL NEVER sell as many books as Hill did and he knows it

28. O'Reilly is a Liar.........

Hillary's book has sold 1.7 million copies, no bulk sales on the NY Times bestseller list.

O'Reilly's book only has 900,000 copies in print, how can he outsell her when he don't
even have a million copies in print ?

Even if the DNC did buy 100,000 books, she would still be 700,000 books ahead of him.

He is just mad because he predicted his book would pass Hillarys book sales by the end
of the year. He knows he will not make it by the end of the year, or ever. His lame ass book
was only #1 for one week, Michael Moores book knocked it off #1. And now even frankens
book is back ahead of his book at #2 on the list.

He is a liar and a spinner and an idiot.
