jeb Quote on prescription drug abuse
Gov. Jeb Bush, citing figures that show five Floridians die each day from abusing legal medications, said Tuesday that the state's teenagers must change that pattern.

Bush, addressing 1,500 adult and youth counselors at the opening session of the 2003 Florida Statewide Prevention Conference, said the state has seen marked improvement in drug abuse, but needs to see even more.

"That means the next generation of Floridians needs to rise up and say, `We're not going to be like our parents. We're going to focus on the things that are just and right and loving and wholesome,'" Bush was quoted as saying in Wednesday's editions of the Orlando Sentinel.

The painkillers Methadone and Oxycodone were linked to more than 300 deaths in the first half of the year, according to a report issued last month by state medical examiners.

"It is vital that we guide our children in their decisions," said Florida first lady Colomba Bush.

`We're not going to be like our parents. We're going to focus on the things that are just and right and loving and wholesome,'

Sometimes, decisions have to be made between 'the rant of the week' or 'there's just no words'. I'm opting for just no words right now, but did want to share this newest little gem from jeb.

4. It'd be good to have his quote saved on a sound byte.
File it next to 'some juicy details' and 'devious plan' for future campaign usage.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida Gov. Jeb Bush told a delegation of lawmakers that he had ``some juicy details'' about the sexual orientation of a missing Miami girl's caretakers.

During a meeting Wednesday, Bush implied that the two women, who had just been charged with fraud stemming from the investigation into Rilya Wilson's disappearance, were lesbians.

``As (Pamela Graham) was being arrested, she told her co-workers, 'Tell my wife I've been arrested.' The wife is the grandmother, and the aunt is the husband,'' Bush explained, using his fingers to indicate quotation marks to emphasize the word ``grandmother.''

``Bet you don't get that in Pensacola,'' Bush told his guests, a group of lawmakers from Florida's Panhandle.

Gov. Jeb Bush said Friday he was only kidding about having "devious plans" to torpedo a constitutional amendment capping class sizes in public schools.

3. Jebbie... Your best message to kids: PROSECUTE RUSH!
Anything less than the prompt (but equitable) prosecution of Rush Limbaugh for his admitted prescription drug abuse and (apparent) money laundering, will communicate to your Kids that prescription drug abuse is fine for rich white conservatives... but an unacceptable crime for poor Blacks and Latinos.

5. Very true...
We spend so much time talking about how the law is to be distributed evenly, crossing all class and other boundaries; but then, in practice, show the hypocrisy of allowing those who have broken laws, to go free, or get better treatmnet than others.

Perhaps we should push for laws, that state if you are rich, and propertied, you will lose your wealth as well as your freedom if convicted of crimes...OH wait..what was I thinking..... RICO, it's already there! But Limbaugh will not see any of his assets taken away, he's not poor. :grr:
