The Boy King making comparisons between Munich and Iraq
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 10:07 AM by Ishoutandscream
and the failed League of Nations not standing up to dictators. A veiled slap to the UN, perhaps. Also drew comparisons between himself and Wilson. I mean, they were the last two presidents to spend the night at Buckingham Palace for goodness sakes.

Hey, George. You ain't no Wilson. And those unbelievable comparisons that have been made between you and Churchill - forget it. You're a fraud my good man. And trust me on this one, Iraq will be your Waterloo. No go ask Condi what Waterloo was.

On edit - "Now go ask Condi..." Found out that Bush thought Waterloo was a cool song by Abba.

1. He should have made comparisons...
...between the Nazi party and himself...and how they were prosecuted for the same type of aggressive war he waged on Iraq.

2. If the UN is guilty of appeasement
it's towards Herr Bush. Does the United States have "no more territorial demands" in the Middle East?

3. Of course we know
he never reads the speeches until he walks up to the podium. 5 min later he could'nt tell you what he just read.

4. I was listening to his speech and it was EXTREMELY well crafted.
This nation laps up all SOUND BITES and forgets the REALITY behind the curtain (The Wizard of Oz is a good analogy).
The reality behind the curtain is the PNAC agenda. The image is Bush reading a very well written SPEECH that has no connection with the reality but that will be used to COVER, DENY, and TRANSFORM the REALITY.
And while people are talking about... Michael Jackson, the Laci case, football, basketball, reality shows... the fantasy keeps on marching.

5. I have to agree with the overall speech
being accepted as a "masterpiece" due to what you so astutely described as good sound bites. But look at the overall speech, and his total mishandling of the historical picture.

Funny how he lauds Wilson and his work toward democracy and world peace. He doesn't mention how the Republicans essentially killed Wilson's dreams of an American presence in the League and how they eventually led to his (Wilson's) downfall culminating with his stroke. Republicans need a few lessons in history.
