Poll question: Rush might be feeling some stress today.
Since he has rejected honesty as his path to redemption what will he do now? He will certainly blame his “enemies” for the money laundering charges, his lawyer already has. Rush has also implied that the stories aren’t entirely true about his use, a clear indicator that he still doesn’t admit to himself that he is a criminal. But now that he made his bed, how will he manage the stress.

2. Never trust a junkie
They lie, they lie. They lie, they lie, they lie!

(to the tune of "itchy + scratchy" on Simpsons)

5. Until a substance abuser admits to themselves

and to the world that they are a user/ they shouldn't be trusted.

My mom had to shut the door on one of her sisters, an alcoholic, until she had the gusto to admit that she had a problem.

I don't think that Rushy is going to get the kind of tough love from his ditto monkeys that he really needs.

4. Why would he stop? He doesn't even think he did anything wrong.
He told one of his listeners, "don't believe the National Inquirer"... as if the stories were only running in the Inquirer.

He said he was always honest with his audience.

He blamed his use of illegal drugs on his back pain. You'd think all the pictures of him golfing would sort of put the lie to that. I'm reminded of OJ Simpson's claims that he was injured, then golfing round the clock.

Relapse? You bet.

Bye bye, fat boy.

7. "My friends, I am Rush..." "Hello Rush!" "...and I am.."
"NOT like the rest of you, you tree hugging, deportation-worthy addicts. I, ladies and gentlemen, have a DEPENDENCY issue. This is is is NOT an addiction. I have terrible, I really am enjoying this, terrible anal bumps. Yes, I did not take a thousand pills a day for FUN, no, no, that would be our former Liar-In-Chief. I have pain. But I've learned a lot about myself in the last six weeks and I am really, really enjoying this, watching those of you here in the basement of the rec center look at ME and think you know what only I know, which you can never know. That I am not an addict."

Several embarassed coughs fill the dank, smoky room. Stryofoam cups are crushed and discarded. Everyone hugs everyone at the conclusion, except the fat man in the suit. Jeff, a 22-year-old recovering alcoholic, notes the lone figure and muses how very much he resembles the Meat Loaf character at the beginning of Fight Club. "His name is Rush!" Jeff chants in his mind, grinning at his own joke.

On his way to his '88 Impala, Jeff is surprised by the sudden appearance of the same lonely fat man. "Hey, you holdin'?" Meat Loaf asked furtively.
"No, man. I'm clean. Wanna stay that way."
"C'mon, you got have some rainy day cabbage, right?" The man reveals what is in the box that was well-hidden by his ample girth. "How much could I get for a Bose Wavelength?"
