Amendment to the Amendment |
|
The proposed Constitutional Amendment known as the Defense of Marriage Amendment is hereby amended as follows:
Strike all text and replace with:
"Marriage is hereafter defined as the union of a man and a woman for heterosexual couples, as the union of a man and a man for gay couples, and as the union of a woman and a woman for lesbian couples. Now that we're clear on our terms, can we all just get along?"
:7 (And by the way...isn't that also the definition of sex?)

Why is it, when marriage is the issue, that the only topic seems to be couples?
Why can't three, four, or more people (of whatever genders) get married and enjoy all the benefits of marriage?
There are folks in this land of ours who form meaningful and lasting relationships with more than one person.
But somehow we only want to talk about those folks who want to pair up for life with one other person.
I don't understand why we do that, and I do not understand why marriage needs to be limited to only "couples".
