media whores for GOP - makes "gay marriage" hot button issue for 2004
here we go, just like I predicted ......

They know they can beat us on this issue, so here it comes.

How do we deal with this? I suggest do not engage. I suggest ignoring it and it will go away. I suggest going on the offensive about the crimes of this administration and basically changing the subject whenever they try to bring this up, which will be constantly.

This is the LAST thing this election should be about.

Here are two of many headlines

Gay marriage a hot-button issue for '04 race

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/11/19/judy.desk.gay.marriage/

(snip)A CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll taken last month shows that a little more than one third of Americans think gay marriages should be legally valid. (snip)

Gay Marriage Enters The Race

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/11/11/politics/main583048.shtml
(snip)Democrats have often fared poorly on those issues, especially in the South, the newspaper reports. A recent Pew poll of 1,515 Americans found that 59 percent oppose gay marriage.(snip)

1. "OUT" every single "closeted" rePUKE in the entire country.
I am so SICK of the Right Wing and their bullshit. If we discover a "closeted" neocon, then the fact of their hypocracy should be front page news.

LORD I detest these evil people.

3. This is Wedge Issue Number One for 2004
Mark my words. Rove is a very happy man today.

This is ammo to keep the Presidency, the House and Senate. Ultimately completing the takeover of the judiciary.

Bush criticizes gay marriage ruling

snip...

Republicans want to be sure that federal courts don't come to the same conclusions that state courts have.

"When you have a runaway judiciary, as we obviously have, that has no consideration for the Constitution of the United States, then we have available to us through that Constitution (a way) to fix the judiciary," said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., called the Massachusetts decision "just one more assault on the Judeo-Christian values of our nation."

The idea of a constitutional amendment appeared to be gaining appeal for some Republicans, and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., would not rule it out.

"I think when we last publicly were discussing this, we made it very clear that it is our obligation, it is the law of the land passed by this body, and if the courts begin to tear that down, we have a responsibility to address it," he said.

4. I think it will be THE issue if
we nominate Dean or Kerry. The rest can ignore it no matter what the Republicans do or say. They won't be able to. Thus they could never carry the critical swing states to win the election.. Missouri/Florida/Tennessee/West Virginia/New Mexico/Arizona

6. Gay Marriage Or Civil Unions Isn't A Deciding Factor In Any Election
look at Dean. He signed the bill allowing gay civil unions as governor of Vermont even though the great majority of voters in his state were not "in favor of" those rights being granted. Did he lose the next election? hell NO. Why? Because OTHER ISSUES are more important to voters than that single issue.

Gay marriage or civil unions will not (repeat NOT) have any affect on the next presidential election. The pukes will try to make it an issue, but NO ONE is going to the polls in November thinking "oh gee.. I would have voted for (fill in the blank), but he's in favor of civil unions, so I guess I'll have to vote republican for the first time in my life." I don't think so. Abortion rights is a MUCH bigger issue..

9. I wish you were right, but you aren't.
Immersed in the denial of the American Factory, I hear the workers talk. Abortion Rights hasn't been mentioned lately, but they sure have a lot to say about "...fags and lessies carryin' on legal now...."

Clark has stated his position, and the rest need to get this one defused. FAST.

10. if the candidates are weak and waffle
then yes -- rove has a field day.
if the candidates are strong -- treating the issue as an equality issue for all citizens then dems win.
but with all the whinning and hang wringing on this thread -- then yes let's fold the tents and just hand the electiion to bush.
