I have just heard the most stupid question from the press ever!
In the Michael Jackson press conference on CNN right now, one reporter just asked:

"Are you going to be serving us lunch after this press conference?"

1. It's almost like something out of "Dilbert", isn't it?
KHEPHRA--This is the same kind of mentality we see from the media whores in the White House Press Corps...what a bunch of selfish, yellow-journalistic losers! x(

B-)

16. No joke
And then the police officer said something to the effect of "sorry, no. Didn't you know we have a budget crisis going on?" (while laughing)

23. The Press is used to covering the Arnie Campaign
and developed a taste for Lobster and caviar. All the while maintaining their objectivity, of course...

Just heard Jacko's Bail will be 3 million - should he ever turn himself in...

6. could be a comedy show or something
I've seen this been done before. Someone from a comedy TV or Radio show might have shown up and is trying to be funny...

7. if so...
if that's tru, in my opinion. this isn't the time to joke right now. Let's wait and see what the arrest warrant is for, although it's most likely child molesting

8. It's for multiple counts of child molesting
They're setting $3 billion dollars bail. And yes, it was a guy who asked the question about lunch.

12. This press conference is a disgrace
Everyone is treating it like a joke. The presentation was hideous. There is a child that has been allegedly molested, possibly many times, and possibly other victims--the light-hearted tone and laughter was inappropriate. A disgrace for the police and the press.

15. I'm in total agreement
The light tone of the press conference made me ill, considering the subject matter.

14. Lunchables
Hey, as a journalist, I must protest. Lunch is a damned important meal, and a free lunch is even better. A man can't live on gossip, briefings, photo-ops and "highly placed sources," after all.

Who was it?---was it Caesar?--who said "an army travels on its stomach." How true, how true. You'll note that they named a very hearty and refreshing salad after him.

Sometimes, though, at these press events, they let the sliced cheese on the deli platters sit out too long, and it gets all hard around the edges? God, I hate that.

18. Hey, the most important question in journalism
is "Where's the bar?"

But that's not the most stupid question I've ever heard from a journalist. To get to the real boneheads, you have to go to the sports section.

I've got a tie for first place:

One was the guy who asked Doug Williams on the eve of the Super Bowl, "Doug, how long have you been a black quarterback?"

And the other was the guy at the press conference after Mickey Mantle's liver transplant "How is the person who donated the liver?" (The doctor's answer: "You're a sportswriter, aren't you?")

19. The Mickster's liver?
I ate it with some fava beans, and a nice Chianti.

Mickey's skull adorns my mantle now.

Ah, but I must go. I'm having a friend for dinner.

22. The stupidest question i ever heard...
was by an olympic reporter to a member of the American synchronized swimming team who had just won the gold. The question? "So was it a team effort?"

20. The easiest way to get a reporter to cover something
Is to offer said reporter a free meal.

You learn this within 15 minutes of your first journalism class. :D

I know when I was a young scribe, I'd cover anything if they were serving food. Which is why I specialized in sports when I first started out.
