Why Doesn't Prince Phillip Want To Stand Next To Laura?

And in this one Bush looks very nervous to have Prince Phillip behind him...

* Looks at queens cleavage

... And... Is it just me.. or do press photographers have it in for the dim son...

"Yes I am a monkey"

And even his closest aides think its funny

1. I didn't think it possible
But Laura has out "tackied" herself with that dress.

They look like something I'd wear this winter when we're having a blizzard and I'm shoveling snow!!!

22. Perhaps she forgot she would need long white gloves, and borrowed
a pair. I don't believe the dress was designed with those particular ones in mind. Other wise it's not soo... bad. I like the color. And perhaps Laura would like to join us in a drink.

I don't get whoever is dressing her....
any woman knows better (if they are hip heavy) than to wear something like that-- especially with lighter color on the bottom (and ths shape) accentuating that area... Well, at least she's not wearing a tiara (believe me, I would not have been surprised if she had...)

11. "yes laura
i`ve found a dress that makes your hips look even bigger"!!!!there`s nothing like a 50+ woman in a dress that makes her hips look bigger than the rest of her. she needs the fab 5 and trina and suzy to make her look presentable.

37. No one has commented on doofus
He looks like a total idiot. As for Laura, she looks ENORMOUS next to Philip. The royals are not tall people, so maybe he's terrified of the amazon in scarlet. Agree with everyone that dress is not flattering. I notice that repub women have no sense of style. George and Laura are just not a classy pair. Where are John and Jackie, Bill and Hil when we need them?

19. Of course there is this possible explanation....
Perhaps the wire photo editors have noticed that newspaper photo selection is moving increasingly towards photos that make * look like a psychopath or a very very dim bulb. Supply & demand....

That at least would make sense :)

And if so, it will make Karl Rove's plans kinda hard to implement.

35. I noticed how before dinner
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 07:13 PM by kskiska
Laura was conversing with Prince Charles, I think it was, on her left, while Phillip, at her right totally ignored her. Even without sound it was apparent she was speaking loudly and animatedly with that awful Texas twang. It must have been offensive to his ears.

Also, it was notable that *, even in his rented tails, walked the way way he always does, like a gunslinger, with his arms held away from his body. He can't seem to e to avoid those smirky, pursed lip poses he does.

40. It's all in the details
The color's not bad, and the cut of the top is OK (although the 2nd picture of Laura shows the flounce in the skirt, which is positioned at just the right spot to make her look short and broad and, well, frumpy. But it's really hard to wear flounces and not look like a frump, or at best, like one is wearing a K-Mart Blue Light Special). But it's the gloves that take it from Passable to Who Dresses Her? Now, I don't move in these circles and for all I know it's de rigeur to wear gloves at a dinner at Buckingham Palace, but these just make her look awkward - the hand position doesn't help.

My feminist conscience keeps telling me not to judge Laura Bush on her appearance, and I'm certainly not a fashion plate, but I do expect her, as a representative of the US, to look as if she had some taste, or an advisor who did. Maybe if she had a full schedule doing Good Deeds a la Eleanor Roosevelt I'd cut her some slack on her wardrobe, but what does that woman do?

She's way out of her depth and has a complete lack of experience in these sorts of encounters. I imagine he finds her a little bit apalling. As for Chimpie, where to begin? They're both hopeless. Not the thing at all, you know?
