regarding rush's addiction: a dittohead coworker of mine....

....claims rush has not criticized drug users or addicts since 1996. i'm wondering if rush made this ridiculous claim to dodge accusations of being a hypocrite (since he supposedly has been an addict since 1996). he also claims rush did not support bush's commercials that said that people who bought drugs on the black market were aiding terrorists.

please, DUers, help me find credible sources for quotes by limbaugh that attack drug addicts/users (post 1996) and also quotes where limbaugh supported bush's ridiculous commercials that equate drug users/addicts with terrorists. i want to be able to bitchslap my dittohead coworker (who actually is a nice guy who's really naive and got suckered by rush's propoganda...apparently his whole family is made up of repukes, so he is one by default).

...Limpballs going on his "druggies are weak...and rehab is a cop-out" blah blah blah....somewhere between 1998 (when I moved offices)and earlier this year (when I left that job).

I clearly remember hearing this particular rant because my husband is a 13 year sober alcoholic and Rush's blather really pissed me off. I also remember him going on to say that he quit some bad habit (smoking, I think) by sheer force of will and if you couldn't do this, you were spineless and probably on the dole.

To his credit, I did see the clip Monday where he admitted that he could not kick his pill habit without help. Hopefully, he now has some understanding of what it's really like.

3. What difference does it make when he stopped saying things?

In fact, the fact that he changed his tune only supposedly after he started using only re-inforces his hypocricy on the issue.

The point is, he did say it, and if he was 10% of the principled man he continually claims to be, he would admit to all of the criminal acts he committed to support and feed his addiction for narcotics, and throw himself on the mercy of the court and it's mandatory sentencing for drug crimes.

4. How does that help him dodge the accusation of being a hypocrite?

If, in fact, he didn't attack drug addicts/users after 1996, he's still on the record as having done so. And if he modified his own views, due to the fact that he was an addict, he should have come forward with them. Your last statement on the issue is the one to which you are held accountable.

when referring to criminals meaning, I think, that people don't change. So he specifically avoided mentioning his crime, but he was unforgiving of the criminials whose crimes were different from his own.
