I am nearly at the point of total political frustration.
I just can't stand reich-wing bastards anymore, can't tolerate their murder, greed, and insanity. I see the polls; yes, Bush is down, but he still has around 50% approval even though he's ruined everything. This is not hopeful. How in hell can people be supporting him? It sure looks as if he will be re-selected. Four more years of this, then 8 years of Jeb or something like him. I just can't take it anymore. I can't stand watching or reading the news, it's just too fucking awful. What encouragement is there?

1. encouragement
I agree with you. The one encouragement there is is that Canada gets better by the day.

4. Yup
Choose a candidate and fight like h*ll for him or her. Get non-voters registered to vote. Counter pro-Bush lies when you hear them.

I'll tell you, I keep hearing from people who supported him in 2000 that they'll never do it again. My fundie stepson says, "I thought he was a good Christian man!" Another conservative, "Shame on him if he even runs for re-election (sic)." Another moderate, "I voted from him, but I'm totally disillusioned." Another republican told a pollster from the party, "he's a disgrace to the party," and the pollster agreed!

I figure he didn't win last time. He hasn't made many converts since then, and lots of his supporters have come to despise him. I think he's in real trouble!

3. Thought I had last night
Edited on Thu Nov-20-03 12:04 PM by TNOE
while tuning in to "Cher - The Farewell Tour" on Bravo:

I think one reason the right is so critical of the word "liberal" and have tried to make it a bad thing - no wonder - look who we have on our side - some very, very, wealthy powerful people.

George Clooney
Madonna
Cher
Woody Harelson
Sean Penn
Barbara Streisand
Mary Steenbergen
Johnny Depp
Martin Sheen
Willie Nelson
Jack Black
Al Franken
Michael Moore
Bruce Springstein
Tim Robbins
Susan Sarandon
Alex Baldwin

Bands: (help me out here)- Let's grow this list.

U2 (probably)
Dixie Chicks
Radiohead
John Mellencamp
Steve Earle
Neil Young

Look at the $$ and influence.... no wonder they are forced to make fun of them. Who do they have?

Frazier
Arnold
Dennis Miller
Ann Coulter

I LOVE being a liberal and being associated with the talent and appearances and political leanings of our crowd.

How's that for a pick-me up?

6. Discover the wonderful world of public education.
It's an invisible scandal where liberals are just as guilty as conservatives. Virtually no one is speaking up for the children, America's most helpless victims.

Strong-willed people with independent thinking skills are needed. They should be able to read the following points without mindlessly saying, "No way - that's impossible!":

1. Public education has already been privatized.

2. Giving more money to public education (organized crime) without accountability is like fighting a fire by dousing it with gasoline.

3. The National Education Association is one of America's greatest criminal organizations.

4. Not ONE of the Democratic presidential candidates has a truly respectable education platform.

5. Public education is controlled by white Corporate America and the "Black Mafia" at the expense of Asian Americans and even the larger white and black communities.

6. Bill Gates is one of education's (and therefore children's) greatest enemies, despite all the money he "donates" to public schools.

7. Al Gore wrote the foreword to "Victory in Our Schools," an extremely bizarre book written by the late John Stanford, arguably the greatest abomination in the history of public education.

8. Corporations and the military have more information about students than teachers and parents could imagine.

9. Not one teacher out a hundred has a clue about what's going on in their own school, and less than one out a thousand are speaking out.

10. School district superintendents who commit major crimes typically get their contracts bought out before they hire on with districts in other states, where they repeat the process.

* * * * * * * * * *

Remember - no matter how bad things may seem, they're even worse for America's children.

9. I am beginning to get offended
at all the America's "children"... yea, yea, yea - we care so much about "our" children - tuck them safely away in car seats, helmets for their heads, etc., etc., etc. - and yet we are blowing up third world children daily. Extreme hypocracy is us.

14. I've seen your bashing public ed before.
1. Evidence?? Its still very locally controlled where I live.
2. What kind of accountability?? How about holding politicians accountable first? Washington state has WASL's in response to accountability and kids are taught to pass tests when they could be learning.
3. Without the teachers union we would have Walmart schools. They have been under assault by the RWers for some time. Parents want good teachers. I don't hear the teachers unions under fire at a local level.
4. What is your defination of respectable?
5. Huh??
6. Have you talked to any of the schools he supports?? I know of small public schools with minimal technology that Gates has provided with classrooms of computers. How is this bad?
7. Details?
8. True.
9. See below
10. Major crimes??
I'll tell you where I'm coming from on this issue. I worked for many years in Healthcare, private industry and as a business owner. I recently taught high school for a year in a mid-sized public school. I can tell you it was the hardest job I have ever done and I thought I could multi-task! Public schools aren't perfect but they are controlled by the parents and patrons in the district. 99% of the teachers are hard working, dedicated professionals who CARE about the students and their education. I came away with great respect for the teachers and classified staff. There are people around who want to destroy public education for their own agenda and they and the mandated but unfunded government programs are the biggest threat to public education. I was suprised at how science education has deteriorated because of fundie assaults. If you don't like what's happening, get involved in your local schools. Run for school board. But if you are (as you seem from your posts) hostile to public schools you will probably be thrown out. Public education(at least where I live) is one area where parents are very vocal and concerned and they speak at the ballot box.

17. Back it up
What exactly are teachers supposed to know about what's going on in their schools that they don't? What exactly about "Victory in our Schools" is an abomination? Give me names of the members of the "Black Mafia". Give me names of superintendents who have had their contracts bought out and moved.

And not just bizarre anecdotes, significant evidence to back it up.

16. Take heart. the deserters base will not increase.
A previous poster pointed out that 97% of the repubs voted for aWol last time and we still beat him(except for the SC). He certaintly has will not be bringing any new groups in this election. IMHO, the repubs will realize that the new Neo party does not represent their core beliefs. I hope we can enlighten the Christian right that the Neo party supported pro-choice ahnold. Help House repubs to understand the Neo parties Big Government/No balanced budget polocies.
There are three major parties now, Domocrats, Repubicans and Neoconservatives.
