Poll question: If Daschle Loses Re-Election, Who Would You Like To See As Minority Leader |
|
Me, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Ted Kennedy.
If we're going to be in the minority, I want to be a fightin' minority that stands up for what it believes in.
And, IMO, no Democrat has done that more consistently than Ted Kennedy.
Yes, he may be old. Yes, he may not be in the best of health right now, but he is the best speaker the Dems have. If this party really wants to be an opposition party, it will appoint someone who IS the core of the party.
And no one member represents the core of the party more than Kennedy.
But who would you like to see get the nod if Daschle gets booted out in 2004?

48. The day they appoint a Dem Lite is the day we think Repub Lite |
|
We are almost equal & have enough to block some things, so to take a step backwards and appoint a Republican Lite is not going to solve anything.
The base is calling out for someone to represent our party platform STRONGLY and VIGOROUSLY. That's the only way to win the game, not by caving.

I can't possibly see one... too much welfare for coal / nuclear power.

30. no, I think this was a bill worth risking Daschle's seat over |
|
especially since the process sucked so bad.
But Landrieu voted for it too. Why not heap scorn on her too? And Daschle caught flak for the abortion law, while Byrd voted for it too and caught no flak.

16. Daschle's in Danger....* |
|
We're defending three open southern senate seats...
04 better not be a Republican tsunami or the Minority Leader's position won't be worth a warm bucket of spit...
Less than forty five senators and the threat of a filibuster becomes hollow....
We'll get rolled on every issue.....
* Daschle will win... I'm not as confident about other races....

We need someone from a reliably Democratic state who won't feel the need to suck up to Republicans now and then to get reelected. Daschle cannot be relied upon to take it to the Repubs because he is always looking over his shoulder in South Dakota !

When he'd go on Crossfire he never took ANY crap. Always got his point across without seeming aggressive.
Dick was on Gore's very short list for VP... as in, Gore chose Lieberman instead.

asskicker, who doesn't care if we offend people who aren't prospective dem voters. Best of all the establishment press wouldn't like him, and Tom Delay would call him a "traitor" thus bringing the focus on Delay's traitorous comments during the Kosovar war.

Majority Leader that's what I'd like? ;) Ted Kennedy is a good pick don't get me wrong but I picked Other.
Senator Harkin<---------For what he said at Paul Wellstone's Wake I like his style and his fighting Democratic Spirit
Or
Senator Durbin <-------who on the Senate floor said this just yesterday Yes his state could use the corn fuel deal but if it meant selling out on the MTBE that allows those companies off the hook and screws the people over that he would vote No for the Energy Bill.

The leader must support our platform, and not be in a position where they can't do this in order to secure their seat.
Landrieu is not pro-choice either.
