I don't give a hoot whether or not Bush has a sense of shame--he doesn't, and neither does his frump--the entire family, it seems does not know the meaning of the word--are not intelligent enough to be reflective and have situated themself into this government by spurious means. It is their problem.
What I do give a hoot about is that no one is challenging him and no one is taking him to task over his disasterous policies that hurt , and even kill, people. Some of those, I would think should be expected to have a sense of shame--how about some journalists? Is it too sissy to admit to shame? Does that leave one vulnerable and scared? Is the entire system full of people who have morphed into robots with no sense of shame--with only the emotion of revenge and villification being their treasured response?

5. It is easy to live a very small life. |
|
We tend to get wrapped up in the exigencies of everyday living to such an extent that it's difficult for us to care about anyone else. We have misused our civilization, seeing it as a means of garnering as many resources as we possibly can for ourselves rather than a means of making sure no one has to go hungry again. Thus we grow fat instead of sharing, shaking our heads at the hungry children and our fists at the man who steals so he can eat.
We have the unique opportunity, alone among all the other organisms on this planet, of becoming human beings. There is a spark within us urging us in this direction. Whether we follow it or not is a personal decision, as the effort to transform must be taken up on an individual level. And it does take effort; our animal nature is deeply ingrained.
The system isn't broken, it just isn't made for us. :)

3. Nah, no protests when Clinton got a BJ...maybe some freepers... |
|
But there were no protests for Clinton - Clinton was loved and it STILL loved throughout the world as the peacemaker he was.
The man that sits in the Oval Office now is the one that is protested everywhere he goes. He cannot face crowds that aren't handpicked, he cannot give unscripted press conferences and has no command of our own goddamn language.
