1. Hokey smoke!
Actually, I prefer the US version. It's a very serious and extremely important book. The British version makes it look like a lurid tract.

14. It's marketing
No-one reads the New York Times in the UK, so no-one (apart from economists) has heard of him, as opposed to, say, Michael Moore (whose TV series ran here). The plain cover would sell nothing. Having said that, the cover would lead me to expect something more off-the-wall than Moore or Franken, not well argued op-eds.

2. Andrew Sullivan had a fit about the British cover...
He said it was "hateful".

Therefore, I heartedly approved of the British cover.

11. Yes, but I believe he resigned before joining the Times
as a columnist so there would be no conflict of interest. He was a window-dressing sort of "advisor" from what I know. And he certainly didn't go easy on them when they were exposed. He kicked them all the way down.

23. I think you are correct.
It was before he became a columnist for the NYT and I think he fully disclosed that he had received income from them.

13. No, no questions. Just makes me happy that
I'm going to hear him speak in an hour. I was so pissed when Molly Ivins cancelled, but having Paul Krugman replace her definitely made up for it.

21. We've got the second cover here in Australia, too -
plus a totally different cover for "Dude, Where's My Country?" It's white and has Michael Moore and Bush with scissor cut out marks around them. They are facing each other with fists raised only Bush's shot is unflattering whereas Moore's has been posed with his face grinning at the reader.
