I was totally shocked that they could be potential supporters of the bill. They voted to open ANWR, but they should not vote for this because this one does not open ANWR. I expect my Dem Senators from Hawaii to oppose this. Otherwise, there is going to be some hell raised. Inouye may have been in the Senate since the early sixties, but I'll be damned to allow him make it past the primaries next year if he votes for this.
DEMOCRATS FOR THE BILL Daschle (SD) Dorgan (ND) Landrieu (LA) Lincoln (AK) Miller (GA) Reid (NV)
Probable "yes" Dem votes: Akaka (HI) Breaux (LA) Harkin (IA) Inouye (HI)
REPUBLICANS AGAINST THE BILL Chafee (RI) Collins (ME) Gregg (NH) Kyl (AZ) McCain (AZ) Snowe (ME) Sununu (NH)
Leaning "no" GOP votes: Alexander (TN)
On top of that, Snowe and Collins have gone on the record that they would support a filibuster. I have a feeling McCain might filibuster this. Kennedy is too occupied with the Medicare right now.
