I only caught a bit of this Gephardt interview (on PBS's Newshour), but I have to say that anyone who uses this excuse for ANYTHING is wrong.

"I know he beats me, drinks up his paycheck, and cheats with other women, but he's the only husband I have right now."
That's why we have divorce.

4. Pretty much sums it up for me... |
|
...except I would add: That's why we have impeachment.

Does the Newshour have transcripts?
This one will cause a lot of heck.
Gephardt said that anger is important, but you have to offer hope.
Wait a minute! I thought he was totally against anger?

I may have to vote for Gephardt if he is the democratic nominee but not before.

7. I saw the entire piece |
|
and in fairness to Gephardt, I think he was just saying that he doesn't want Bush in either and that he wishes he'd never gotten in office either, BUT "he's the only president we have right now," so we just have to deal with him for now.
I can see, though, where you guys find this troublesome though. Because it almost sounds like he was saying "well he's the only president we have so might as well vote with him." But I don't think that's what he meant.
Although, it's interesting, because he sure stood proudly with * in the Rose Garden didn't he.

8. Oh, I agree with what you're saying |
|
But something about that entire phrase puts me on edge. It just sounds like the people who were here on DU after 9/11 who said: "We have to stand by Bush, because he's the only President we have."
This is NOT language that will get it in the minds of the average voter to defeat Bush. Don't support the opposition AT ALL. That doesn't need being done.

as President. Hopefully, he'll get elected, and then everything will be perfect.

10. Was that his "blitthering on CNN or PBS?" Whatever, I fell asleep, and |
|
tuned it out. The drone...drone...drone..of Gephardt/Lieberman...just doesn't get into my "heart and soul."
I tune out...because...oh yeah.....heard this before...before...before..before..."trust us...we have a plan." Trust us, we don't want to look like "attackers." Trust us.....we don't want to look like the Limbaugh's and Coulters of the Media.
Yawn.....Yawn.....Yawn...:boring: :boring: :boring:
Let us Dems....just drift off in our "pea green boat" and "sail by the light of the moon." Oh Yeah!
