2. Paper is good
But I think it would be best to halt HAVA funds until AFTER we get the machine situation settled.

States are likely to spend a lot of money on the wrong stuff.

Or do they want them to jump as fast as they can?

Hmmm....

3. Did you hear Hastings tonight?
Sounds like they added a bunch of positive stuff into an ammendment, and it is being shoved into a transportation funding bill.

And the FCC stuff got pushed into another funding bill today.

Would be nice if some of this sticks.

4. GregD, This Rider Is The Funding For HAVA
It has already passed the Senate and will probably be passed with whatever bill the House attaches it to. This is the funding that has not been given for HAVA as of yet. I wish they had waited until next year to do this. As RedEagle said the states are now going to have the money to spend on machines.

5. Actually
I think they were talking about a "motion to instruct" that referred to a transportation bill. And it appeared to pass.

Hastings spoke of making Election day a holiday, and a number of issues concerning "returning voter registrations to voters for correction due to incorrect filing", "no-excuse absentee voting", and some other issues I was unable to jot down.

Hastings seems like a good guy. Anyone know much about him?
