Questions about Draft Boards |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-20-03 09:34 PM by GinaMaria
What are they? What do they do exactly? How are people chosen to sit on the boards? Do they determine who gets drafted or who doesn't get drafted? How are board members chosen? How do they work and what is the process? Who staffs Appeals Boards? Do you have any personal experience either as a board member or someone who has gone before a board?
Just trying to gather as much info as I can. I've been reading recent articles, Salon, AP but none of them are telling me much about draft boards.

1. www.sss.gov is the official site |
|
But it doesn't give the full story. Searching for "Vietnam draft" "draft classifications" and such will certainly help you find more information.

2. they pick who gets called to phyicals and maybe drafted |
|
BUT a lot has to do with how the draft is set up. If it is a birthday lottery with no exceptions, then the draft members have little OR no power.
BUT if there is a tons of exceptions, they get tons of powers. So if you are 1-A avail for draft, they can move you to 4-F, and you will not ever be drafted.
