When did Bush say this?
Something to the effect of "I will bring chaos to all corners of the globe." I remember seeing people reference this quote in the past on DU. I've told my signif other about it, but realized that I don't have a source for it. Did he say this in "Journeys with George" ? A search on google wasn't productive. Thanks for any help.

I don't know about that one.

Here is the quote:

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."

2. From the Complete Bushisms...this is the only quote with "chaos"
"You're free. And freedom is beautiful. And, you know, it'll take time to restore chaos and order—order out of chaos. But we will." —Washington, D.C., April 13, 2003

3. I seem to remember one of the neocons--
Perle or Wolfowitz, maybe--saying something about taking war to all corners of the globe in pursuit of their goals (American supremacy). Does that sound right?

7. found it - creating chaos to achieve (New World?) order
One of the many curious things President George W. Bush is quoted as saying, this time in Bob Woodward's book, "Bush at War," is that U.S. strategy in Afghanistan "is to create chaos, to create a vacuum." Out of the chaos and vacuum, good would come. This echoes the Trotskyist belief in the constructive effect of "permanent revolution."

It has another resonance as well, an apocalyptic religious one, of interest as the president is said by some to see his presidency within the context of the biblical narrative of the end of days. He certainly thinks of the United States as the vessel of mankind's salvation.

Woodward ends his book with another quotation from the president, uncomfortably apposite: "We will export death and violence to the four corners of the Earth in defense of our great nation."

I'm pretty fascinated by the neocons creating a state of chaos in order to create "goodness." This type of thinking is f'ed up for so many reasons.
It is also very similar to the way the IMF operates. When conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan seem to be raging out of control - remember that it may not necessarily mean the neos have lost control.

9. holy crap
that's some frightening stuff. I assumed this thread was about a verbal slip, I can't believe he actually said these things.

Right after the Iraq invasion, when all the looting started, I seriously suspected that they were deliberately allowing it, that somehow they wanted to degrade the country as much as possible.

8. Bob Woodward's book "Bush at War"
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 12:02 PM by Melinda
Bob Woodward wrote that Bush told him shortly after the tragedy of 9-11 -- "I will seize the opportunity to achieve big goals," and --"We will export death and violence to the four corners of the earth in defense of this great country and rid the world of evil..."
