If you got that 1.5% number from the "Born again divorce" thread, remember that the list of percentages came up regarding stats on the faiths of prisoners.

The Moorish "Scientists" seem like a ripe group for a strong prison outreach ministry, so they'd be overrepresented there.

The Church of Moorish Science predated the Nation of Islam--it was the first organized American Muslim church, I think. Elijah Muhammed was among its followers until founder Drew Ali died in the 20s. After his death there was a power struggle, and the church splintered.

There's a Moorish Science Temple in my neighborhood. They are reputed to have underground tunnels and escape routes...their members refused to fight in WWI and were constantly harrassed by Chicago PD.
