Dixie Chicks interview on the Today show (Jamie Gangel) 6:35
http://www.msnbc.com/news/TODAY_Front.asp?0cv=CC1

I can't find a transcript so this is what I got form the video. It broke up a lot.

"If you had it to do over again would you do it"
Maines "I still would have said something about the war and what is going on but I would have said it a little more.......intelligently"

Jamie Gangel was trying hard to get them to say they were sorry or wrong or scared. Gangel said "they faced angry fans, protests, and boycotts" Later, at the end she mentioned that the tour was extremely successful and grossed $60 Million.

Natalie stuck to her guns.

Asked what she thought about the war Maines "I'm saddened"

Gangel "because........????"

Maines said outloud (or one of the others said something about being calm)"Okay......I think people were mislead about the war, the people who are fighting it are not fighting the war that they thought they would be fighting, and the people who should have been asking questions didn't"

A SLAM on the press, Gangel either let it pass or didn't realize what she had said.

They were then asked about W's comments about what they had said

Cut to video of W
W said (in one of Brokaw's exclusives) ~"They are free to speak their minds but they shouldn't get upset if people don't buy their records because of it...it's a 2 way street".

Gangel said they were still angry over it

Gangel (again) "Because......????"

they all kind of looked at each other like 'she must be stupid'. One of them (video cut out)that that was not the principles this country was founded on and that they don't think that should be the official statement from our government. She went on to say that it was like a threat of what will happen to anyone who speaks out and an attempt to silence them.

Apparently at one show on their tour they got a very specific death threat and almost didn't go on but they decided that they couldn't let that kind of person win.

1. Gangel
Without a doubt, Gangel is one of the dumbest interviewers on television. I care barely stand to watch her.

Thanks for the report, underpants! I missed this interview but have been following the sales of Dixie Chick records with satisfaction.

3. If you watch it you will see what I mean
She wasn't completely trying to imply that they should be scared and should be mousey and keep quiet.

2. Count me as a fan of the "Chicks" from the time they took a stand.
