CNN says republican men are shorter than democrats
Inside politics report, no transcript yet.

Said poll showed men under 5,10 tend to be republican and taller men are democrats. What's the deal?

73. So that it why republicans are so angry and mean --
it's simple reaction formation after all. They're really mad and feel inadequate about their lack of stature which unconsciously signals a lack of manhood. What about Republican women -- what's their beef?

8. Insecurity, probably.
In addition to being short, they have tiny, twisted minds. That's why they love athoritarian forms of government. It makes them feel better about themselves. I think it's also why they're so hung up on sex, because nobody but Republican women want them, and they've taken a good look at Republican women.

I have absolutely nothing to validate this, just years of personal observation. My dad was short, and to push his buttons, all it took was for someone to question or criticize anything he did.

35. Honestly people!
We don't need to be going around insulting Republicans because of their penis sizes! That is jsut something that is so below the belt! I mean, it is just not nice to remind them so loudly and publicly about their inadequacies! And I thought that liberals were SUPPOSED to be more compassionate than conservatives, how about we show some compassion to the pencil-dicked republicans. It's not THEIR fault that they need a microscope and tweezers to perform!

69. WRONG!!!! We SHOULD be insinuating all kinds of stuff like this.
The better to knock 'em off their mark. We ABSOLUTELY need them to be pissy and whiny and outraged about how unfairly they're being treated, so we can then throw back in their faces all the shitty treatment they've dished out, repeatedly, to Democrats.

And we need to do stuff like this again and again and again. Okay, maybe take the high road as far as OTHER kinds of insults. BUT, it would be most demoralizing to the enemy to start making little noises all over the place about this. AND IT IS CRUCIAL TO START DEMORALIZING THE ENEMY!!!! We want them on the defensive, NOT the offensive. They do too much damage to everybody, everywhere, when they're on the attack.

It is BEYOND HIGH TIME we began a resolute and nonstop campaign to begin demoralizing the enemy. In any and all ways possible. Attack from EVERY DIRECTION!!!!!!!

74. The downside of this argument
Is that soon you'll have Hannity and O'Reichly (and possibly Coulter) dropping their pants live on FAUX to prove that this "liberal spin" isn't true.

And if it IS true, no doubt Rupert Murdoch will employ some "special effects" to make it appear otherwise.

On the other hand, this all might traumatize the brainwashed masses into dumping the corporate media for good ;-)

41. And that means what exactly??
I still don't understand why people seem to equate height with some sort of virtue. I think it just another form of bigotry to presume that there is anything in this report that means anything. It's like saying that repukes have longer toenails, isn't it?
Are we to assume that height proves anything about a person? Are tall people better than short people? Rather than gloat over "us tall democrats", shouldn't we take a look at why people who are not tall are viewed as less worthy than others?
Why has our society developed in such a way that people who may be of great value, have great compassion and concern for others, and are honest and loving get sidelined as potetnial mates and leaders because they don't need to move the seat back in a sedan?

During the California recall, Gary Coleman got laughed at for running. It was not because his positions were unclear and not well thought out(which was the case), but because he was really short. Everything said about him had to do with his height.
We don't live in the forest anymore. Height doesn't offer any advantages for people that can't be met with technology.
For women, I would think that the idea that a potential mate would have to tower over them would be a disgusting concept, but that's just my opinion.

I'm glad that an unneeded way to classify people that persists in the world, and is sadly, generally accepted, makes the repukes look bad, but it also makes me a little less confident that anything I hope to achieve will be taken seriously because, like Howard Dean, I am "only" 5'8".

51. Hey - What About Wellstone?
One of the finest Democrats in history - looked me eye to eye once and I am 5'4'! - and he towered over his taller colleagues in courage and humanity!

I may be of short stature but I am very good looking (thank you very much) and have a lot of wit, humor, and intelligence in my arsenal. I come from a family of 3 sub-5'6' male liberals. Our 6 foot cousins are all Republicans.

Actually, I have also noticed that a great many of Hollywood's most notable male liberals are or were of sub-6'0 stature (Tim Robbins not withstanding!) - think Martin Sheen, Tom Hanks, Danny deVito, Jon BonJovi, Tom Cruise, etc., etc,

Still, there is some humor in all of this - most Republicans do seem to have a Napolean complex - regardless of height!

66. CNN:bush is greeted warmly in Britain...and in political news... heights
:eyes:

Like there is no news to discuss about the overtime rules... about the energy fillibuster (and dem success)... the medicare vote. Nothing to talk about regarding the political implications of the stepped up attacks in Iraq and Turkey ... Nope - height differential in male supporters of the political parties. :eyes:

67. Perpetual anger stunts growth
Edited on Sat Nov-22-03 02:12 PM by Military Brat
I mean, there must be something persistently angry in them from childhood to grow up and be that way.

bush is still angry with Battle Axe Barb for verbally smacking him about crying because his sister Robin died (she was about 5 years old, I think), but he takes it out on everyone else who gets in his way.

Edit: I'm not saying if you are short, then you are angry. And I would rather see research on whether Repubs drink more, smoke more, beat their wives (or husbands) more, et cetera. Now, that would be interesting.

70. That was when he learned NOT to have feelings, or compassion
at the hands of Barb the Barbarian. He still feels small...that's why he's a bully.

81. It gets you hooked on painkillers, too. Ask Limpblah.
I'm serious...did anyone entertain the possibility that the guy needed them so bad because he built up all that hate that started eating him from the inside out?

Just what we've all been dying for.....a really important poll.

(Scroll down...last topic)

WOODRUFF: Finally, what you've been waiting for. The tall and short of next year's election. Surely, height has nothing to do with party affiliation. Or does it?

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

WOODRUFF (voice-over): There comes a time when every man has a eureka moment. CNN polling guru Keating Holland had his a couple weeks ago.

KEATING HOLLAND, CNN POLLING DIR.: I looked and saw the Gallup was asking height and I thought to myself, I wonder if tall men are different than short men.

WOODRUFF: And guess what? They are. At least in one respect. Our poll shows men 5'10" and under are more likely to be Republicans than their taller counterparts. Keating, who is 6'1", can't explain it.

HOLLAND: I think it's probably related to some third factor.

WOODRUFF: So we hit the streets of New York for a spot check.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I don't think height has anything to do with it. I may match, but I think it's just coincidence.

WOODRUFF: He's 5'8" and a Republican.

Here you have two big guys, 6'1' and 6'6". And they are...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Independent.

WOODRUFF: And?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Independent.

WOODRUFF: But they don't buy our poll.

snip...rest at link

Just my opinion...Liberal men are handsome and intelligent. Republicans are extremely unattractive in every way.

78. Hey- I'm 5'6" and I'll have you know that we shorter men have
the same equipment as everyone else. In fact we look bigger because our bodies are smaller.

So there.

82. Arnaud de Borchgrave
The walking pile of excrement is referred to in some circles as "The Short Count."

Yes, he's short. Very short. And he's a Republican. And he's a Count.

And as Randy Newman says, with such eloquence, "Short people got no reason to live."

83. Oh help me
How many height-related threads will we have to endure on DU before we finally realize we are squandering time and energy on the most stupid bullshit imaginable??

What tomorrow? Republican men tend to maintain their tire pressure more than Democratic men? Democratic women on average are hairier than Republican women?

People, the world is falling apart out there. Has anyone noticed...
