Poll question: How far right is a right-wing source? |
|
How which of these sources crosses the line so far right that it should not be cited here?
What is "crossing the line" in your opinion?

2. People here spend too much energy using the source to hide from news. |
|
Any news source should be fair game. Let the story speak for itself and stand or fall on its content.
As an example, notice how many think it's the height of clever wit to call the Drudge Report , the "Sludge report", but just couldn't wait to cite it when Matt was knocking Arnold.
Refusing to face or deal with a news item you don't like just because it's from a " rw" publication is utterly childish. Head in the sand is a bad pose from which to deal with the real world.

The only ones in the list that would be a no-no here at DU for posting (per the rules) would probably be NewsMax and FreeRepublic. Like 'em or not, the others are all major news outlets and as for Drudge, while he is personally conservative, his site links to major news stories from all over. His only interest seems to be getting a scoop. I was criticized earlier for posting a Drudge "teaser" when nobody else had the information yet from what turned out to be a New York Times story on Dean and his critics concerning the draft. It was fully 4 hours before the NYT article appeared online. Yet, some wanted my link to Drudge's headline teaser removed for it being to Drudge! Like it or not, we'd miss a lot of scoops if links to Drudge were considered against our rules here at DU. NewsMax, FreeRepublic both are wildly rabid right wing and offer OPINION and not just links, news stories, etc. BIG DIFFERENCE.
