High water mark for the American Fascist movement |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-22-03 05:19 AM by JackSwift
The American Fascist Party, normally hiding under the name Republican Party, is about to hit it's high water mark. After nearly 2 hours of voting on the dismantling of Medicare under the guise of a perscription drug benefit, it appears that this boldest yet of Republican ploys is going to be voted down by a margin of no more than 3 votes. As of this posting, the voting has been open for more than two hours and the vote is 216 for the Trojan Horse to destroy Medicare and 218 against. American Fascist Party majority leader Tom Delay is desparately seeking the two votes to continue the AFP's attack on middle class Americans.
The Fascists had hoped to destroy Medicare by privatizing the program, and had a sleeper agent in charge of the AARP (the American Association for Retired Persons) lobby, who at the last minute urged Congress to vote for the measure, thus betraying his membership. An elaborate television advertising campaign, long prepared, was whisked out in the final days in order to confuse the elderly constituents. Once the members of AARP figured out the Trojan Horse nature of the bill, the backlash was swift and brutal. Seniors, the voting bloc with by far the highest turn-out, have precipitously realized that the American Fascist Party is out to eliminate the benefits they enjoy through Social Security and Medicare, and appropriate the tax dollars that fund these programs for waging war against Party enemies abroad and to subsidies for large American corporations that fund the American Fascist Party.
As Tom Delay frittered away the dark hours of the morning, he did not realize that the discourtesy of such a long losing vote and the rising sun would respectively cause his leadership to be embarassed and his body to burst into flames.

2. I don't watch the c-span votes often |
|
but I suspect that the long roll call vote from 3 to 5 in the morning on a Friday night is unusual. The longer it goes on, the more of an embarassment it is for Delay. There are a lot of people still in the chamber.

I've seen votes drag on for an hour in the middle of the day. But few people are in the chamber on those occasions. It's 5:20 D.C. time and the chamber is well populated.

|
The town poor farms will be back and the few rich can bring you extra food. Good luck. I grew up with the towns that had poor farms. We had chickens and used to bring them extra eggs. My mother used to say you do not wish to see those poor people I will bring in the eggs.

8. Yep but this is what this has done |
|
mobilize seniors after they see AARP for what it is
Mobilize the armed forces.
This is NOT going to be good for the GOP and the way they held the vote off and how they got it will be understood by seniors

And let's hope it dies the death it deserves in the Senate. I wouldn't count on it, though

15. They have now hit overreach |
|
We all knew it was coming. Now, does anyone expect Bush to get the senior vote now? The class of voters who vote more often than any other age group.
I think Caesar just put the dagger in his own back.
