So here I am, sitting on the messdecks...
eating breakfast, and the news is on.

They are talking about a 'super viagra' pill, that will work all weekend.

And one of my shipmates asks "This is a news program, don't they have any news to report?"

And I told him "They don't dare report the news, you might start to think, and then you'll go out and vote."
"Late last night" I continued "A bill passed the House that would destroy medicare. They had to play games to get it to pass, instead of the usual 15 minutes to vote they took 3 hours. But they finally got it passed. Hope you weren't planning on being sick when you are old."
"Who passed it?" was his question.
I answered "Who has the majority in the House? The Democrats in the Senate are talking about a filibuster, though."

My good deed for the weekend, keeping my shipmates informed.

3. Isn't it amazing?
There are so many people who don't have the time or inclination to keep up with these very important matters. They don't have a clue what their own government is doing to screw them on a daily basis. What you've said is going to stick in this person's mind. I've said things to people only to have them repeat it back to me much later. We have no idea how much we influence others by telling them a few relevant facts now and then. Thanks for spreading the word to some of our military.

4. TERRIFIC work! Congrats! You really ARE fighting for our freedom.
I am also encouraged, a little, by your shipmate's question - "who passed it?" Maybe he'll think twice about voting rethug next time, and we NEED more people doing that!!! It's a victory knowing he even had the sense to ask such a question.

We absolutely MUST do more of what you are doing - proving and demonstrating how rethugs are OUT FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FELLOW "HAVE'S" - and NOT for any of the rest of us. What they're up to is helping big business and the already-wealthy and entities from which government was set up to protect the little guy. The only thing standing in their way is a Democrat - whose philosophy is to look out for the little guy the rethugs perennially want to run over (after making sure his pockets have been thoroughly picked).

DEAR GOD, how I hope and pray the proverbial pendulum is starting to swing back!

7. You are an island of intelligence in a sea of ignorance, Seaman!
The free flow of information and ideas is so important to our nation, our Founding Fathers made it the First Amendment to the Constitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

A free Press is the only business named in the US Constitution. Until the day when we truly are free returns, we must all be islands of Truth. Thanks, HawkerHuricane!

9. Answer to all
Thanks for the support. Is anybody inviting a serviceman over for Turkey day? If you wish to show support for the troops that they can taste, it would be a good thing to do. Contact your local base or USO if you can spare a seat! (Just don't get over aggressive talking politics)

11. Super Viagra pill?
And it lasts all weekend? Wouldn't there be some logistical side effects that would be, um, inconvenient? Like you wouldn't be able to watch the football games in the bar with your buddies?

Thanks for your post. I always look forward to them. And thanks for serving.

12. Depends on what type of bar it is.
And I don't have the details on it, I just saw it and went back to my book... (The Hugo Winners vol. 1, edited by Isaac Asimov)

14. Thanks HH
I've adopted the same policy of factual, miniminal information myself. It's a lot more effective if others come to the same conclusion I have on their own.

If not, well I made them curious enough about the problem to do a little research outside the propaganda offered by Rush and his ilk.
