Congressman Kucinich left campaigning to vote on HR463
Congressman Dennis Kucinich thought the vote on the Health Care Industry-friendly Medicare bill important enough that he left off campaigning and went back to Washington D.C.

Nearly the entire House was present when the final roll call vote was started at 3 a.m. EST. However, four House members did not vote.

Significantly Congressman Richard Gephardt of Missouri is among the non-voting members. Link to Final Vote Results for Roll Call 666

Where was Dick?

1. Thank you BJ!
Seriously, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to point out Congressman Kucinich's integrity these days. It was the defining factor in my decision to support him wholeheartedly.

I want a President I can trust, period. I trust Kucinich implicitly, and Clark runs right behind him for that.

7. Gep voted NO on the bill
This vote was about waiving points of order, or some such, related to this bill.

In any case, Gep did vote. I didn't see him speak on C-SPAN last night, though, does anyone know if he did?

14. I think he would have voted against it

Gephardt is one of ours :D, good for Gep for voting. I didnt rush to judgement because I am :D one of few who actually like Gephardt, mostly because of his labor and economic views.

8. I believe
that he has missed only one vote during his campaign and that one was called for while they were all gone, wasn't it during a debate? I can't remember but he even stops his radio interviews to go vote.

10. Dennis Kucinich has missed only ONE vote in EIGHT years, and

that was because Tom DeLay (R-TX) wouldn't change a vote scheduled to be at the same time as one of the Democratic debates this year.

Not only does he do his job in Washington, he keeps in touch with his constituents. Before the campaign, he was known for going back to Cleveland almost every weekend, where he'd attend weddings and funerals and otherwise get out and see the people in his district. I heard this from a Cleveland Plain Dealer reporter who was on C-SPAN some time back. The reporter also said that if you lived in Cleveland, it was easy to meet and talk with Congressman Kucinich. He said that Dennis Kucinich is a very serious man but also has a great sense of humor and enjoys meeting people and talking with them. I thought this was high praise from a reporter, especially as his other comments suggested he didn't agree with Kucinich politically.

11. Gephardt voted on the REAL vote (Roll 669)
http://clerkweb.house.gov/cgi-bin/vote.exe?year=2003&rollnumber=669

The vote you have there is the Martial Law rule, not the bill itself.

20. I know but if we are gonna call him a republican
I think we're nuts. Its his foriegn policy that reeks, has good views on domestics and I think he has good views on like labor. The real house "democrat" is not Dick Gephardt but Ralph Hall.
Miller-Hall, Republicans dressed up as Democrats :D.
