Margaret Cho and Jerry Falwell duke it out
This was from a transcript of the Abrams report where the guests were Jerry Falwell and Margaret Cho. They discussed the recent Mass Supreme Court Ruling.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Abrams Report

ABRAMS: A predictable reaction of elation by gays and lesbians around the country in what’s being called a landmark ruling, Massachusetts’s highest court saying that the state must give gay couples the same legal rights of marriage as heterosexual unions.

JUDY, SUPPORTS MASS. RULING: Thank you very much. And mostly thank you to the Supreme Judicial Court of the state of Massachusetts for seeing what we know to be true, which is that we are a couple that is worthy of the protections of marriage, and that after 16 ½ years, Hillary and I are finally going to be able to get married and protect our family.

GARY, SUPPORTS MASS. RULING: We’ll finally be able to have the health care benefits. There’s many other legal protections that we so need to keep our families safe and secure.

<snip>

ABRAMS: Margaret, why does the state have to sort of put its stamp of approval on the marriage? Why can’t they, for example, just say, you know, either they’ll have-allow a union or some other way to get this done legally, but not to call it marriage, not to make it the same as for everyone else?

CHO: This is already offensive to me, and I am so sorry, Reverend Falwell, I’m a Christian and a big fan...

<snip>

FALWELL: Well have you read Romans, chapter one - Margaret, have you read Romans, chapter one...

CHO: I don’t-now listen-excuse me, sir, I’d like to just speak, please. I think what I’m speaking of is that you are also equating bigamy with the idea that gay and lesbian couples can get married. That’s not bigamy. That’s not polygamy. That’s not...

1. ugh
Read one of these christian letters you read them all. They're like robots.

Dear (name),
I just want to let you know that I care for you very much even if I don't know you. God loves you too, but you said (insert random diatribe) and I am afraid that isn't true. The bible says (insert false refutation of aforementioned diatribe) and even though God loves you, he still hates this sin. Therefore, when you said you were a Christian, that cannot be true. I will pray for you.

Love,
(typical christian name)

FALWELL: "If you want to be a moral pervert ..."
this man is despicable
why should he get the last word, Mr. Abrams - he had the first word

if that exchange doesn't cause one's blood pressure to rise to the emotional level of division and hate Falwell sponsors in this country, and the tone coming for 2004 ... nothing will ...

Dear Margaret ...

when you performed at the Warner Theatre during the Equality Rocks festivities in 2000 ... unfortunately, I didn't arrive until the end of your show ... but, that was the important part, when you outlined the discrimination, abuse, etc., you had experienced (and, me, too ... so, I related spot-on) ... and, you tell of the value of having a dog to walk, etc. ... I was the one during the ovation repeating (with affection) ... Moooraaaaaaan!!!!

Note: Her grandfather was a Methodist minister
