Has * done anything to commemorate the 40th anniversary of JFK's death?
To my knowledge (and mods, I apologize if this is a dupe), but I have not seen anything in General Discussion or Latest Breaking News about * attending any memorial services or speaking out about the tragedy this country suffered 40 years ago today. I realize that * is probably suffering from jet lag, but this is a difficult day in this country's history.

Thanks all.

1. Yeah, he called his dad
...and since Junior's out of the country, they postponed the annual annivesary celebration until next week when they'll combine it with Thanksgiving.

4. He returned yesterday.
Should have been in Arlington Cemetery today with members of the Kennedy family.

Yeah, his father who can't remember where he was that day.

6. NO.... I would cringe to see that POS with the Kennedy family...
why would we want him to get a photo op out of our nations' tragedy?

7. You definitely have a point.
But a statement? Saying we mourn the day, etc. Guess it was too damned much. Jeez.

19. *cough* Dallas
along with Richard Nixon at a Pepsi Convention if I recall correctly... does sound to me like they and LBJ had a lot more to do with the death of JFK than anyone would ever admit to. Anyone else watch "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" this week on the History Channel? Pretty damning conviction from LBJ's lawyer.

boys.

To be honest, I wonder if even now, Emperor Bunnpyants* has been entrusted with the Bush Family Secret.

JFK. RFK. MLK. Heinz. Tower. Salem Bin Laden. Kennedy Jr. Carnahan. Wellstone.

Maybe one or two of those was actually an accident or a "lone gunman".

Maybe one or two...

11. Went to mass at St. Stephen's..
Edited on Sat Nov-22-03 07:57 PM by SiobhanClancy
an old church in the North End where Rose Kennedy was baptized, and where her funeral was held. I lit candles for Rose, and for her son John. I don't go to mass very often, but this is one of the days I do.

That's what I did...I guess the so-called President didn't see fit to honor JFK.

12. It's lose-lose for him to do it.
He doesn't want to get too close to the memory of JFK, or the Kennedys, for that matter. He only loses tremendously in the comparison with them.

If he does do something to commemorate the anniversary, his freeper base gets pissed, knowing he's totally insincere about something for which they see him selling them out, just to be PC. And the Liberals get pissed, knowing that it's all insincere, but for the opposite reason.

So, why bother??

17. God forbid!
To me, it would only tarnish the memory of a great leader. On the other hand, hypocracy is something that Bush is very accustomed to.

21. Thought I read that W was strangely unmoved on 11/22/63...
in an account by a classmate, but have googled and been unable to find the source. The story was that while other students at Andover or Yale shared in the shock and grief of the nation, young Bush seemed uninterested.
