Stupathy
Is there a word to describe an individual(s) who is both stupid and apathetic - or who is stupid as a result of his or her apathy? If not, I'd like to coin one: STUPATHY.

I've already coined another word - apathon. A person who's apathetic is technically called an apathist. But I use the term apathon to describe individuals who are part of greater collective apathy. For example, if six members of a household vote and one doesn't, the holdout might be dubbed an apathist. But when 50% of Americans don't vote, those who don't do their duty form an army of apathons.

That's what America has become - an army of apathons stewing in stupathy. If I could be dictator for a day, people would pay penalties for their stupathy. Citizens who vote and exhibit a little intelligence might get reduced utility bills or faster service from government agencies. Those who are extremely stupid might spend 30 days in prison, just for the Hell of it.

1. Could blase be a synonym?
I am not sure.

3. I'll have to look up the definition, but I think blase just means
not terribly enthused. I guess that's pretty similar to apathy, but they have different connotations to me. I think of people being blase about a certain food or TV show, apathetic about politics.

4. Nah,, not quite
Blase describes someone who has been to one A-list Hollywood party too many, has taken one cruise of the Greek Islands too many, has sampled ancient vintages and truffles and "tall food" prepared by world famous chefs to the point of utter boredom.

"Stupathy" is a great word. It certainly describes too many folks I know who don't vote and who would rather believe the world is a nice place with compassionate and capable leaders who care about them, specifically, than find out what's really going on and doing someithing about it.
